If you had ten billion dollars…

I'd hire Urban Meyer and keep Duzz on as DC.

Then I'd hire Dan Hurley in hoops.

No chance I'd hand the athletic department a lump sum and tell them to do as they wish. Everything would be endowed with restrictions on where they could spend it.

Then I'd build the VA a new hospital somewhere else so I could build Gunga Gulanga Field on that property.

I'd donate another couple billion to various charities, schools, universities. Should leave me about $5 billion to set my family up in perpetuity.

…and could pay for the buyout of Duzz, and provide NIL money like Michigan, who would you hire as a new coach?

And you can only use the money for Pitt football. Not some dumb charity work.
Sounds a lot like Richard Pryors “Brewsters millions”

Damn, you do all that and on your deathbed you will receive total consciousness.

They aren’t getting rid of a thing.
They have zero actual power .
It’s busy work

They can only recommend. So any cuts that will be made could have happened with or without them. Republicans control all 3 branches, though slim majorities so it makes some things tough or impossible to cuts. Some things will be easier. I do think some cuts will be made. Somebody has to pay for the billionaire's welfare we are going to start handing out. Will it be anything real significant? Probably not.

You speak my language.

I dont think I'd waste a dollar on a coach. Not really needed in this pro era. I'd give like $25 million/year to the player payroll fund and then tell Pitt to go find a HC who would be excited about having that to sell to recruits.
I sure as well wouldn't waste it on the Duzz.

Off the field, i would partner with Musk (X) to be the sponsor / provider of Pitt Athletics content.

It would be my goal to dominate social media and starting with X is a good first step. (Not a political endorsement...i want all stripes watching us. X would be step 1)

This is an insane take
Just once I'd like to see one of the believers offer the bullet-point list of the evidence that supports their belief that Narduzzi is a good P4 college football coach. I can take a reasonable guess at what the first two line items would be:
  • Stability
  • 2021 season

Don’t forget the other 2 pillars of their argument: coastal championship featuring a 7-7; record, several blowout losses and the inability to complete a forward pass( but they won something): and most importantly, Pitt can’t do any better than Narduzzi and 5 losses per year because the fans suck.

I think I changed my mind. I'm luring Andy Reid from the NFL and surrounding him with the best roster money can buy. Like Saban at the college level, Reid just keeps winning in different ways with the Chiefs.

I'd keep Narduzzi. I think he's close to redeeming himself. Especially if we get that QB from Virginia who beat us and they are running off for someone better.

They beat Clemson got tossed around a fair bit but admittedly not as much lately.

Stupid question, but this seems like as good of a place as any to ask it...

If we found some cheap land within 45 minutes or so from Oakland, would it be allowable to build a University of Pittsburgh "Remote Learning Facility" that included:

1) A stadium
2) Practice/workout facilities
3) Multiple buildings for education (for whatever joining into main campus classes via video couldn't cover)
4) Multiple buildings for room and board
5) Etc.

And then hopefully multiple businesses would follow.

Basically, a remote campus where everything was a one-stop shop for all football players. You're just taking a desolate area and giving it the Waterfront treatment, circa 2000ish.

I'm aware this isn't happening. I'm aware this would create an even greater impediment for student attendance. Just curious if it would be allowable, since it could solve the cost-of-land-acquisition and lack of space issues for a new stadium, and because our urban campus seems to deter many recruits.
UCLA is across the street from the Bel-Air Country Club and they play in the Rose Bowl, which is about 45 minutes away. I don’t think you’d have to get anywhere near that far away in Pittsburgh. Especially with $10 billion to spend.
