In all of this, how did this get swept under the rug?

This is from 2002!!! 2002!!! It is why I have suggested that the perverse behavior up there actually may have trumped Paterno. Though an interesting and unprovoked comment by a congressmen.

State Rep. John A. Lawless, D-Montgomery, toldWorldNetDailyhe has "tried everything," including blocking funding, to stop events of this kind, but has been unsuccessful.

"You can't touch Penn State," said Lawless, who crossed over from the Republican to the House Democratic caucus last November. "The legislature cares about their football team. Football is more important than education or morals."

Again, this was from 2002.

Anyone think Mark Nordenberg would advocate these types of speakers and conferences? This is where I do think what happened up there could be, probably is bigger than Joe Paterno. This does not absolve Paterno for his inactions and ambivalence. I mean, he was Joe Paterno...he could have commanded attention from the King if he so choose, at least the Governor. But again, he chose to do less.

But my point is.........why aren't more people connecting these dots that something aside from Sandusky is not quite right. You talk about the Second Mile, Sandusky, Franklin Credit, the Philly connections, and then there is this masterpiece....

Man, that is a lot of smoke. A lot of circumstantial evidence to just discount considering all that went on.

As I said in the other post, the Freeh report was paid for by PSU with additional parties of interest nudging things in that direction. The goal was to do a very half-assed internal review/investigation and without interviewing specific parties very close to the matter. Completely agree that there are probably very connected people with close ties to both the government and Penn State that wanted to make sure that the investigation found something while other things much more damning could be swept away and hidden for as long as possible.

Penn State fans damn Freeh, when really they should be thanking him for taking a check and getting a prefabricated story together to protect PSU, Paterno, and others to the extent was possible while not letting the full truth get out there of what all was going on there and for how long (which now appears to encompass many decades).

No....I am not talking about Freeh. I am talking about 60 minutes. I am talking something like that. I mean 60 minutes took on Big Tobacco. I have one theory but it is not politically correct. And if I say it, I am going to be blasted, but others have also wondered about this theory.

It's not hard to understand how this whole subject has been "brushed under the rug" when you consider the career-ending possibilities and potential criminal charges that could result from this situation. Particularly when you consider the possibility of involvement by very high profile people at UPS and PA State Government.

Just look at the recent developments concerning the Attorney General and the PA Supreme Court. And let's not forget the very mysterious circumstances surrounding the 'disappearance' of Centre County DA, Ray Gricar.

Believe me, anything is possible and anything can occur when people in high places feel threatened. Nobody wants to share quarters with Sandusky!

When the wrong person gets cornered and there is nothing left to lose, all he!! will break loose and the whole thing will be outed. Not until then.

To me, this is the cherry on top of the sundae. Again, which is why I am astounded that some investigative news agency, without ties or invitation by either school, conference or NCAA.

Penn State Stench from our state government is disgusting but then again our whole state legislative body is a joke so why am I not surprised that our legislators want to protect the PSU brand.

I am sure it is no different in Ohio with Ohio State or WVU in West Virginia or Kentucky or Alabama or Oklahoma, etc...
