if that should happen does MSU make Narduzzi an offer to good to pass? Reminds me of Chryst and the only job he'd leave for was when Wisconsin came open. Have to admit this makes me very nervous. Not sure he would go to LSU but if they throw rediculous money at him he just might and MSU sure would pay better than we pay Narduzzi.

They need Hermann. A young dude who would stick around and bring an exciting offense, which has been the complaint about Les Miles (no offense).

Not sure D'Antonio wants to start over in that pressure cooker. He has it pretty good at MSU.

LSU is not going to go after a HC who plays a very similar style to the guy they just fired.

Just rubbish crap to stir the pot. Not sure Narduzzi is that attractive to anyone other than Pitt yet. But at some point, you have to look at it like this...it is like dating or being married to someone that is hot. The hot person is always going to have options. There is only so much you can do, and there are always going to be hotter people and better opportunities elsewhere. So at some point, you cannot worry about it and just make the situation as best as you can and show all the love that you can...and hope the hot person sticks with you. Worrying about things that are beyond your control is beyond a waste of time and energy. Move on...we as Pitt fans have far more to worry about this season! Hail to Pitt!

I'm not saying they will or won't but the author seems to think that who they should zero in on. It's his opinion I just worry if they end up doing that we'll be back coach searching again. It would be the one place he'd leave for and if this season turns into another 7-5 season maybe he thinks he'd have more success at MSU. Again I'm not saying he will be offered the LSU job but if he is I will be uneasy while MSU fills their HC job.

Don't worry. Be happy!

I wouldn't touch Dantonio with a 10-foot pole. He doesn't have any charisma. How can a guy ever win in major college football without having a big personality?

Thanks. I'm going to remember this analogy at the bar this weekend.

LSU needs someone who can recruit a QB. I don't think they care what style they play if they win. Are you saying if we ran the wishbone but went 10-2 every year you wouldn't like that just because a previous coach ran that. If Les Miles had even decent QB play he would never would have been gone but he failed to recruit good QB's. LSU may find themselves in the same position Tennessee was when the fan base got greedy and thinking 9-3 wasn't acceptable. It's taken them a decade to recover and they still aren't the same TN that those teams of the 90's were.

Are you referring to the Whisky coach who is doing pretty darn good.

Tennessee started to tank back in 2002. They didn't fire Fulmer until the wheels fell off and they had 2 losing seasons in 4 years. Not to mention Fulmer couldnt recruit against Saban, Richt, Meyer, Tubberville, Holtz/Spurrier And even in the 90s, the Vols were boat raced by Florida every year.

Miles has had time to right the ship. LSU won't hurt for talent. The expectations are still crazy, but the Tigers should do much better than they have recently.

No, they wouldn't be happy. If they go 10-2 it likely means they lost to Alabama and didn't win the SEC West or the SEC. They want to win big and they want an offense that is exciting and can score points. They have too much talent in that area of the country to not let them open it up.

If your getting rid of Miles you don't do it to hire Dantonio, even though he is a real good coach. If you are going to fire a coach who was successful but couldnt get over the hump you got to get a young up and comer who has proven he can win. Now if they strike out with Herman then they might look to the next group of Briles and Dantonio.

Just a hunch based on absolutely nothing:
LSU reaches out to Herman thru back channels. (Don't want to risk getting turned down publicly.)
Herman says Thanks, but no thanks.
LSU turns to Kiffin.

I just talked to my buddy that is a LSU booster, and he said he will be outraged if they go after him. Said he is too old, great coach, but not the coach to build a long future on, just 4 or 5 years.

I have to agree. If Pitt hired him right now, I wouldnt have been ecstatic either.

Seems like there is a lot of support for Kiffin. Not sure why. He was a train wreck at USC, dumped Tennessee in a heartbeat, and was a complete failure at the Raiders. Guy has a 35-21 record as a college head coach. Why in the world would you get rid of Miles to hire this guy?

here's a name...

How about Cliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech?

His offense would surely recruit a QB.....and they would probably score more points than any team in the SEC

LSU is not about to hire a sixty something coach with a heart problem
This.

And that 60-something coach with a heart problem is already one of the 3-4 highest paid in college football, and a beloved, respected icon where he is. I don't think he'd make the move, and I don't think LSU would want a guy in that age bracket anyway. They need a long term solution.

He's 22-20 at Texas Tech and his teams play no defense. Don't think they would be pleased with that choice.

I think they want Herman or Jimbo. If they fail to land ether of them, they may look at Kiffin (only because I keep reading that in articles).

If they would get to the level of a Kingsbury, don't count out Fedora, from UNC.

Not a chance Dantonio is primo top pick

Young coach full of piss and vinegar...
Houston is one of the fertile recruiting grounds in the country and a natural for LSU

There is your guy.

no way in hell he gets the LSU job. no way. LSU is a primo job, he is nowhere near a primo coach. a coach that plays zero defense is trouble in the SEC.

his agent leaked his own clients name.

If they come after Duzz, Pitt should make a fair offer to keep him, if its 3 to 4 million a year, and he still goes , then bye! But now Pitt needs to pay that 3 to 4 million to another coach, and you can get some top level coaches for 3 to 4 million these days. You can't get a proven coach and staff lowballing people. You have to pay upfront for big boy football these days . Pitt needs to understand this, I'm sure the new guys and girls do.

Kiffin did a really good job at USC under the circumstances. How did the Sark/Helton thing work out for them?

To prove the OP is a total troll and looking to start speculation here is the vegas odds on the next coach of LSU. As you can see... no where to be found is Dantonio.

The OP is not a troll. Dantonio's name has been tossed out there as a coach of interest. Most everybody thinks Herman & Fisher is who LSU really wants, but Dantonio's name has surfaced a lot in the next tier of candidates. Perhaps because LSU poached Sparty for Saban. Perhaps because Dantonio is seen as a damn good coach who probably has maxed out at MSU. It's nothing but media speculation at this point, and it may not be possible to pluck Dantonio from MSU. Who knows? But it is out there and it doesn't mean the OP is a troll.

the national media has clearly thrown out Dantonio's name. Rick Nueheisal is one such name on his Sirius show. Others are talking about it as well. Nueheisal also said that if Briles doesn't get a HC gig, he could team up with Gus at Auburn.

The other connection, LSU once plucked another MSU coach away and that worked out for them.

With all that said, him going to LSU would surprise me. Not shock but a surprise. The $$$ will get coaches attention.

I don't think Gus should be on the hot seat. That program isn't broken. They just need a QB.

Not to suggest LSU was broken, but it was time for a change. Auburn is throwing coaches to the woodchipper like crazy.

Gus was on the warm seat, believe me. Until the win last week. Although, they would be foolish to let him go. Gus is very well spoken, very respected, and a very good coach.

Jimbo is NOT leaving Fld St.

I think if Dantonio wants the LSU job, he will be a top candidate, as he should be

I'd say the three most likely candidates are Herman, Oregeron, and Petrino. Wouldn't be surprised about any of them, especially Petrino. Herman is top pick, Petrino is the wild card, and Oregeron is the fall back if no big options come available.

LSU is going after the big fish...not Frank Wilson. LSU is a really really good job with a lot of perks, including $$$$. They will have suitors much better than Wilson.

They also didn't fire Miles to hire a DL coach in Oregreon. The only way i can see Petrino is if LSU wacks Alleve their AD and brings in both Jurich and Petrino.
