If you look at our losing streak, it's not hard to understand what the issue is. We simply can't score the way we need to. We're 290th in FG%, 280th in 3Pt% and 215% in points scored. The only good thing we do is get to the line and that helps with our points scored per game. I have no issue with our defense and we know that rebounding is also an issue (easy put backs, etc..) but we have regressed in our offensive execution. Everyone knows that X and Trey like to drive the lane and have adjusted accordingly, therefore, we don't have the big men that can score and our outside shooting is terrible. We need shooters and players that can put the ball in the basket. I think Pitt has had this issue for some time now. Not since Jamal Artis and Mike Young do we have players that can create their own shot. I like X Johnson but even he has a lot of work to do on knowing when to stop and take the mid range jumper instead of always forcing the drive. Trey M is a complete mess on offense right now. He has totally lost his confidence and I will say that his downfall on offense is one of the biggest reasons we haven't been able to close out some close loses. Don't get me wrong I like Trey but I can't understand what happened to him. This is where I blame JC a little. It's clear that Trey needs coaching help and set plays to get him involved. I'd rather him keep trying than see him pass and look scared on offense right now.
I know that I'm captain obvious but just needed to vent my frustration like the rest of us. HTP

I'd rather Trey shoot wide open 3s all night and miss all of them than drive, get lost and turn the ball over.

No one knows what’s going on in practice, but I can guarantee you that the coaches are well aware of the stats and Trey’s issues . There’s only so much you can do during the season . I think you’ll see a different ball player next fall .

Pitt ( not we ! ) need not to rely on freshman to be the savior of the bb program. When Pitt starts landing the next Zion maybe then a freshman can be the building block . This isn’t a one yr rebuild , Pitt needs upperclassmen to be the foundation of the program and then adding impactful freshman ( like a Blair ) will put them in a position to compete against the more talented teams in the ACC .

Problem is these guys have no one good to go up against in practice.

I think the impact of a full collegiate season on freshman is being understated. It certainly isnt the only issue, but I think its having an effect on our freshman (who also happen to be our best players).
