Unfortunately the first 5 contests give fans odd games upon which to judge our team: a highly-ranked FCS team that also serves as our 1st game so it's often the most unpredictable, 2 top-10 teams without our only truly good defensive player (and one of those is at our historic and hated rival), a triple-option team, and a bad OOC team we won't pull out the stops for. We could play at a B/C level (for our talent) in all 5 games and end up anywhere from 4-1 to 1-4 (that's before getting the W today).
Unfortunately we really won't know who our team is until nearly the end of October -- unless we win the next 2 or lose 4 of the next 5. Seriously, unless one of those situations happens, we could be the 20th best team in the country or the 50th, and we won't know until around Virginia on Oct. 28.
