Jeff Capel! Huge Hire!

ok, I hit google and bing and cbssports and espn and tribreview with "brandin knight" typed in the search bar ... nuthin. gotta help me out with this "all over the media" thing....on second thought, nevermind as I'm guessing it is more unsubstantiated "I heard or the word is" drivel on social media...have not heard that since "word has it Schmidt is the guy" from two days ago...

They're good friends and what I heard comes from Pitt. I'd say there's a good chance it happens.

Like that jripper guy? I haven’t seen his congrats yet.

"In her first major move as Pitt’s athletic director, the hire is getting universally praised, which doesn’t happen very often.

Capel is young, has coaching experience, comes from a blue-blood program and has the reputation and resume of a great national recruiter.

Unless you’re just a negative person, it’s nearly impossible not to be excited about Jeff Capel."

I didn't know much about Capel and couldn't have come up with his name if my life depended on it.

But after looking back at some of his information, reading about him, listening to him speak, he's the kind of guy I'd like to see as HC.
Not to mention he's a former Duke player and Duke coach which is as blue blood as you get!

IMO Capel's key attributes in areas not related to basketball that will help him be successful in Pittsburgh are:
- he has good communication skills and the willingness to communicate even over communicate which is # 1 on my list. You can't recruit, direct a team, work with the PITT administration, deal with fans or the Pittsburgh media if you can't communicate effectively.

- he's "cagy" and seems to be a thinker

- Capel appears to be "edgy", a fighter, a competitor who won't quit, or be intimidated. This will help deal with the PITT critics and the local media.

"it's five o'clock somewhere"

Go PITT & CSU Rams!
