Do fans think Jeffress has a place on the team? Will he be recruited over? Is he the next Nike?

If his offensive skills don’t improve he won’t be much of a factor . All he really needs to do is to get a nice mid range jumper and and shoot 70% from the line and score 6-8 pts , his rebounding and defense are pluses and would’ve really helped this yr . He provides a different skill set than Nike .

Jeffress right now is a total mystery. He could remain a total bust or he could come back as an excellent player. More likely something in between. Hoping there is a big difference between a 17 year old and a 20 year old.

He’ll be on the team next year because of his defense. But next Nike??? Not a chance unless he somehow magically finds some shooting, driving, any offensive abilities.

The best we can hope for for Jeffress is to be a 3 and D guy. Hopefully he can be a very good defender and be a guy who can make open 3s. He has good shot mechanics like Santos but neither of them can make any. That said, it would not surprise me if both became good 3 point shooters.

Disagree. His shot mechanics are what is behind his shooting struggles. Brings the ball up from his side and low release point.

Someone on the pay board said Will is 6-8 now. If he rebounds, defends, and provides energy off the bench, then he’d be a valuable member of the team.

He had some baby giraffe in him too. Hopefully he's a full grown ass man giraffe by now.

What I've always counted on Jeffress possibly getting better and very useful is the hope that work ethic and his intelligence all comes together

I know the game has changed in the last decade to a more perimeter oriented game....but the teams that have been most successful can't only shoot from 3, but also still move without the ball, back screen, back cut, post/re-post and hit the glass hard.....and defend with vigor....

Will made a solid contribution tonight. Only two points, but played outstanding defense when Florida Gulf Coast threatened to make a game of it toward the end. Seems like a really good kid, so happy for him.
He committed to Pitt at a time when things were not great. Glad he is healed and contributing. The team will need his D in conference and in March.

That's so odd because our resident "insider" says he's "useless" and "unplayable"...

😉 @BballinsiderfromPitt

It's great to see Will impacting the team in a positive way.

Jeffress was much needed last night.

That was a big physical team and he served his role well.

He got some nice offensive rebounds and played good defense. The problem is he is a 0 on offense so its going to be really hard to play him against good teams because its like playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end. But maybe he can become like a Leaky Black.

His teammates trusted him with the last shot of the first half to extend it to 10 and he isn’t awful from the line. Not great, but closer to the average. He didn’t take any bad shots. Ish, Bub, and Hinson will carry the team scoring. We need someone to carry the D. Would you rather have hit or miss Horton out there? If you take away his late game turnovers, there is a chance it becomes a single possession game. They are not losing because of Will. And it’s not 4 on 5. They may not view him as a 3 pt threat, but he can hit mid range and have offensive plays carved out for him. He can also pass.
