Judah Mintz

They play different positions and they need to take as many talented players as they possibly can at every position. There isn’t one person that shouldn’t be recruited over on this roster.
Yeah, it seems like they’re selling Mintz on basically stepping in and filling Sibande’s starting spot. Hood-Schifino is being sold on being the lead guard, local kid face of the franchise.

The bigger question to me is how things play out with Hood-Schifino, Lindsay, and Jones. Seems like they might be able to get Jones if they push, and seemed like good vibes coming out of Lindsay’s visit. They can probably take two PGs this cycle.

I think the question was more or less along the lines of JHS and how he feels about Pitt taking Mintz.. I don't think it's a question JHS is a take, even if the class is full.

"If they push", as opposed to what?

I mean... JHS comes off the bench at Montverde. I doubt a player ranked lower than him on a worse team is going to scare him away from a college.

And as someone else said, he lost all ability to have any feelings of anything until he signs. And even then...

Pitt needs to compile talent and a lot of it.

Everyone should already brace for the fact that because he’s choosing between 3 mid level schools he’s gonna drop in the rankings after July for being committed to one of them and it means absolutely nothing.

What Pitt commitment other than Steven Adams had their ranking rise after the commitment?

Right now He’s hovering around top 100. That’s good enough for me. All we need are about 11 more of those similarly ranked.

Question: I’ve seen that Jalen Hood-Schfino has been flirting with the idea of recommitting to Pitt. Would Mintz’s commitment close that door?

Yeah, saw he had a visit cancelled after I commented. It appears you are correct.

Drew was saying on Twitter that Pitt blew it because they were "#1" for JHS. Seems like baloney to me.

No idea why Pitt cancelled but the "Pitt was #1" thing doesn't pass the smell test. If Pitt was #1, why did you de-commit a year ago? If Pitt was #1, why not re-commit today? Frustrating that we felt the need to cancel the visit - and I have no insight into why - but JHS had every opportunity to come to Pitt and not only did he not seize it, he actively walked away.

I agree. There is something else going on that none of us know about. No team turns a top 30 player away without a reason.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think this has something to do with Pitt's relationship with Team Durant. That's where Mintz played and we're recruiting a number of their players.

You are right, we are heavily recruiting other guys there. But I'm not sure why that would have caused us to cancel his visit. Unless he voiced displeasure over it and we cut bait? Doesn't make a ton of sense unless he prompted it.

I don’t think that is it at all.

Pitt should not and I’m assuming will not make decisions based on an AAU team unless they hire one of their coaches as an assistant. They will have gotten one player they wouldn’t have gotten from Team Durant. Not worth it.

Gotcha. Hard to say then. Maybe they are just happy that (hopefully) they are getting Mintz and feel confident about others. On the other end of the spectrum is the idea of HCJC being vindictive for some reason. But I highly doubt that's it.

I think he’s being vindictive for a very good reason. But that’s just my speculation that JHS was never gonna recommit. I have no inside info at all. Just the only thing that makes sense.
