Just a reminder

I don't disagree fully with your post, but there's a counter argument that you're trying to develop your QB. He needs this type of experience to get better. He needs to play through some of this, even if you and I are calling for Nate.

I also don't think Bell did him any favors in the first half. Thought he called a poor half, and should have run the ball a lot more. I guess the OC is learning too.

Thankfully Eli and the defense responded. Hopefully it carries into WVU, because things are going to get tougher.
Agree pitt was running the ball well and didn't run it enough early. Especially after the first drive when it was clear Holstein was struggling.

Thank you.
Yes, he will learn. I will not, have not, said Holstein is in any way not a good solid player, and very possibly the future. But coming off 3-9 Pitt must win games against teams they match up well against. Once he struggled in the first quarter, Yarnell should have been inserted and got things going , with Reid running so well no doubt things would have settled and Pitt score more than six points. But losing a game because the moment is too big for the kid because "he is in his 2nd start" is just a recipe for another poor season. I am not crucifying the kid at all, but there was a player on the bench that likely would help the team if he had gotten a possession or two in that poor 1st half. I am not the crazy one here, its the Holstein before the team guys, IMO.
But here is the problem. You dont really know what Yarnell would have done in that game. You can only assume that he would. Because the redshirt frosh, did what he did in the 2nd half, Pitt won the game.

The ifs and buts do not apply in a win. Yarnell could not make the defense play better in the 1st half. Maybe Yarnell would have led them on a drive, or maybe he wouldnt.

People on this board just refuse to except that Eli gives Pitt a chance to be good. He us 2 and 0 as a first year starter, and people are upset about the backup QB. Pitt is in position now to do something they have never done. That is to go undefeated in their OOC schedule, and people complain.

The season is early. It was a great comeback and very improbable. Lots of Cincy mistakes (Delay of game?) helped get this win. And Sauls is phenomenal.

Let's not start thinking that we're all of a sudden a winning program. I saw a lot of indications that we just don't have players at key positions. Remember, this was Cincy, a middle of the pack of worse Big 12 team. They aren't good. But these are the teams we need to beat, so that's a win. We're going to need what we showed in the 4th quarter today to approach a winning season this year. Especially on defense.

But this is just my opinion. I don't get too high with wins or too low with losses. Just not worth it.
Come on man. After last week everyone said it was only Kent S, let see what happens next week against the Bearcats a Big 12 team. Now you want to throw out the middle of the pack crap.

You are one of those that want Pitt to fail so you can come on here and start yapping about same ole Pitt, or something else childish and stupid. Guess what? They are 2 and 0, no matter how much you post your so called opinion.

Did you even notice that Holstein led Pitt to a win? How is that Holstein before Pitt?
Holstein struggled mightly in decision making in the first quarter.(maybe you didn't perceive that) Give his team mate Yarnell some possessions instead of letting the thing get to 27-6, that's a bad way to try and win games.

The speed of the game was giving him some trouble. That happens with every young QB. It would probably be that way with Nate too. If one QB is clearly ahead of the other, it's best to let him fight through it unless he starts falling apart and turning it over.

Regardless of what you or I, or anyone else thinks, it's pretty clear Kade Bell wants to ride with Eli.

In his interview after the game, Eli emphasized that he has to take what the defense gives him. I imagine Coach Bell was hammering that into Eli all game. Maybe he needed to learn that the hard way by playing through it.

He said he also realized that with a 3-man rush he had room to move around and run…

Go Pitt.

That was the key. Once UC had to respect his ability to run, it started to open things up for receivers down field.

I look at things objectively. I've been watching Pitt sports for longer than you've been alive, most likely. I know how these things go for Pitt. Nothing has been proven yet. This is too early to say Pitt is that good, because they haven't proven they are. Let's see what they do when they start playing games that matter in the ACC.

You're probably one of those fans who think that teams should get bowl bids when they win 6 games. LOL!

I admit, I was guilty. I posted some thing about them not being able to get off the field on a Cincinnati third down. I hit “send” too early. I thought I deleted it in time, but kennyheisman8 caught me.

You are right. Last week Pitt beat a team that lost today to St. Francis. Today, they did not beat a middle of the pack Big 12 team. They beat one of the worst, maybe THE worst, Big 12 team. Context matters. Whether you want to believe it or not.

But beating bad teams is always better than losing to them. If anyone had forgotten that, last year should have been all the reminder they needed.

We could have brought in Yarnell and he could have thrown a pick six.

If you are going to take your young quarterback out every time he starts having trouble, he's never going to learn how to play through a bad start.

Pitt isn't good. Objectively speaking, they don't even have the talent to be good. Doesn't mean it can't be a fun team to watch. And against this schedule, I think Pitt can be competitive in most games they play.

I wasn't even around to see the Kent game and didn't know what the score was until today. I know nothing about that game. I was away in Utah on vacation enjoying myself and being with my wife. Sorry if I don't pay attention to Pitt football that much lately. For me, this was the first I saw of Pitt. Objectively, they looked terrible for 3 quarters and showed some guts in the 4th. That's all I know about them right now. Give the season some time to transpire before making proclamations that this team is going to win consistently.

Nice strawmen you erected and toppled. Well done.

You admitedly have no interest in the football team, so why are you here?

Because you look stupid.

Meh. I didn’t criticize him too much, anybody with half a brain realizes that a young QB in his situation needs to work through adversity. Which he thankfully did. I wasn’t calling for him to be pulled for Nate. But it’s perfectly fine to be frustrated with how he was playing in the first half, especially after the crap we saw last year. I’m pretty sure that every Pitt fan is cheering for him.

I don't. I just suggest giving him a few possessions off while his teammate takes some snaps would have been beneficial.
I am with you. I would have given a Yarnell a series in the 2d quarter to see if he could give the team a jump start. Things worked out today in the end and I was pumped watching the win. But I hate watching a guy struggle when there is another dude standing around who has shown some ability and won us some games.

Anyone else see the tweet of the “after party” in locker room with team singing?

It said something like “broke the trap”

Might explain the slow start?

Again, Pitt won. We have no idea if that happens in your scenario.

"How could anyone be on Narduzzis side?

He shows worse decision making skills than Kayne West."

Stand by that comment.

I had to go to a birthday lunch for my-stepfather so I checked out of the thread right about when Cin went up three scores.

But I don’t remember the thread being unreasonable.

Holstein was not good.

The defense was bad.

What else was anybody suppose to say up to that point?

LOL. What specific Narduzzi decisions from yesterday do you think were wrong?

Those are statements of facts and are entirely relevant. There were judgmental statements made as well that show how stupid the posters were by the end of the game.

I can’t really speak to how bad the posts got after it became a three score game. Maybe the wheels came off.

I’m just saying. I don’t remember the thread being that bad considered it was a three score game against arguably the worst P4 team.

With some of those posters, it’s not just that they post unhinged things when Pitt got down by a couple of scores, they start becoming unhinged with the first unsuccessful play. And a few are so dedicated at being unhinged that they practice by posting negativity every day; every week; every month of the year.

I think all of the “normal” posters get a pass on game day for losing their $&/t when the wheels fall off.

It’s the minority who think it’s their vocation to post all day, every day as if the wheels are falling off in a game.
