As much as it hurts to lose that bowl game, the team deserves much credit for its character, fight, and resolve to give itself a chance at the end. The injuries during the game were mind-boggling, losing Peterman, Connor, Johnson, Webb, and a few others. (Now, one sees why helmet-to-helmet shots are disallowed). In addition, Whitehead and Hamlin did not play. I might have missed a few others. Yet, the 'next man up' gave Pitt a shot at winning. Special kudos to Ben DiNucci, who had not played, except for a victory formation, all year and did an admirable job. This loss is a tough one, but the young guys who gained experience will benefit down the line, and the one's waiting in the wings will be an additional influx of talent. Congrats to the team on a successful, exciting season.
