Rodney Gallagher. Had 32 vs McKeesport last night.

This is the kid who was on LeBron's AAU team with Bronny. He is going to be a Top 50 player. Hopefully Capel has been in contact but Huggy Bear is right down the street also.

Look for PR or Central to recruit him then.

Yea this is Western PA. He'll probably choose football and be some 4 star DB who will go to PSU or OSU. I still think Pryor made the wrong choice. And what happened to that kid from Allderdice who got kicked out a few years ago and transferred to Jeannette but was ineligible. He was on LeBron's AAU team and was supposed to be D1 but football got him and he was a D1 football recruit

Pryor was the starting qb for one of the true blue bloods in college football. He then played in the NFL. Do you know how hard it is to reach the NBA? If he doesn't do at least as well as Sam Young did, then football was the right decision. Pitt was a powerhouse in hoops for 15 years. The only player during that time that wasn't just a spare part in the NBA was Adams, and only a handful even reached the spare part level. Pitt is a mediocrity in football, yet puts plenty of players into the NFL. The NFL is vastly more easy to make than the NBA. You can squeeze out a nice career just playing special teams in the NFL(see Tyler Matekevich). Nothing like that exists in basketball. If your goal is to reach the top level, make some money, and have a nice pension in old age, football always makes more sense.

I think Pryor would have played 10 years in the NBA and made a mint.

Gallagher’s going to Pitt

so is Schfino.

And I heard Jeffries is going to be tough but if someone had to handicap it Pitt is the favorite. Big boy ball is coming

What's Schifino's first name?

Its a long way away but Gallagher may want to "team up" with Bronny in college.

Gallagher’s dad is all football. Won’t be surprised one bit if this kid plays football instead of basketball because of the dad. He’s a division 1 football player as well, but the dad is over the top for him to play football. It’s actually sad.

The other note I’d say about Gallagher is this, kid is a solid player. Illinois and Rhode Island “offered”as favors to his AAU team. He couldn’t commit to either of those now. He needs to work on a lot. His game is more jerky than smooth right now but he’s pretty solid.

What is this kid's size right now?

Terrell Pryor among others were once supposed to be Panthers. These kids are sophomores or younger. A lot can change in 2 + years.

@Drew1208 would know more than me but it seems like he left the city for a reason. Seems odd he’d come back when temptations would be worse.

If your info that these kids are basically silent verbals are coming from the coaching staff... well...

5’10-5’11 ish? Nice athlete with speed, great handle, funky shot with a nice mid range. Will have to change it completely to be a D1 guard because he’ll never be a good 3 point shooter the way he currently shoots it. But he’s strong as hell and consistently makes solid plays.

This is from watching him in 15U, haven’t seen him at LH.

I didn’t say they were silent verbals. I was told that Gallagher and his family love Capel. I have some connections in the officiating profession who happens to be from Uniontown, he’s the one that told me about him. He’s in NY right now helping with the Italian fellow doing tv work.

a lot can change in the next couple years but he sees him going to Pitt.

Both his parents are tall people. He’s going to grow

As far as football I saw some video and he is mostly a WR and DB although he is also listed as a QB. Gotta remember he is only a freshman. Some freshmen grow a good bit but some don't and other kids catch up.

OK, then its official. PSU or OSU for football. This is SW PA we are talking about

He should of been the starting QB this year at LH.At LH Justin Fields could be the QB and they'd win 3 games. If his dad wants him to be a football player he better get him to a serious S/C coach real soon.

@bobfree is essentially as accurate as one can be at this point.

No one really knows what can happen when a kid is as young as he is and lots can happen. But probably the most accurate way to state things is that Capel is well aware of him, has a great relationship with him, and has Pitt hoops in a better position at the time than anyone else in any other sport.

thank you very much. This board has been truculent lately. It’s nice to hear some support!

we have the same connection I think.

My prediction of Gallagher is he doesn't graduate from LH.My old boss is the head coach at LH and he won't be happy when he leaves.

LH is such low-level, I would have figured he would have left home his junior or senior year and played at a basketball factory school like everyone else seems to do. For Pitt's purposes, it would be better for him to stay at LH though
