It is hard to look at the Cincinnati game and the WVU game and see how Pitt doesn’t have a great chance of getting the win in both those games with one of the other back up QBs.
It’s not all on Phil though, in the sense that Narduzzi and Cignetti allowed him to stay in both games, when it was quite obvious he wasn’t playing like he was capable of getting it done.
Had they pulled Phil in the Cincinnati game and the backup chosen was able to lead the team to a win, it still could have allowed a completion to start the following game. Had they them started Phil again and he struggled in the first half of the WVU game (like he did yesterday), then the coaches would have felt even more comfortable putting that same backup back in for the second half.
So really, these loses are because of Phil’s poor performance which only occurred because the coaches poor decision in both games to leave Phil in the game.
