Love Pitt and believed in coach, but realistically

I know all you do is collect a social security check and come on the board to attack posters who criticize your boy. Go take an ex-lax. All those kielbasa you ate this summer at the BB stadium still have you clogged up. Nutsack is, by the way, a bum. Anyone who disagrees has long since lost his/her marbles.
As always, you're wrong. And the bowel fascination you seem to have needs to be disclosed to your shrink at the home. I'm sure there's something he can give to calm your fetish.

Seems people especially announcers rave about the atmosphere....What is exactly wrong with the Pete? And in your opinion what's changed about it since it opened?

The atmosphere is not the same thing as the facility. The Pete is now almost 15 years old. Three Rivers Stadium was 30 years old when it was torn down. Facilities age: what was new and novel at construction is no longer new and novel decades later. Schools dump so much money these days into trying to win recruits with lavish playing and practice facilities, you almost have to renovate the place annually just to play catch up. From a fan's perspective, the Pete is better than the XL Center in Hartford, or the Fifth Third Arena in Cincy, or the RAC, or the SunDome, etc. I would not say it is nicer than Comcast Center at Maryland or the Yum Center in Louisville, and it has a distinctly different feel than shared NBA venues like SJU, Georgetown, or SHU (and I assume NCSt.). If you are measuring venues against the same teams Pitt fans want to measure our program (blue bloods or slightly below), we are only average or slightly better.

Unless the two of you have visited 100+ college venues, just stop. It is better than average by definition. If you still don't agree, let's put it this way; our facilities are not a hindrance, see Fitzgerald Field House.

I've only seen Pitt play in 31 venues from Hartford to Hawaii, so I guess my opinion is invalid.

Say what you want about the Field House ( it was a dump ) ,but man it rocked in big game situations.

Absolutely! I was there about 90% of the games in the Charles Smith era. It was rockin' back in the day..."Send it in Jerome!"

Why do we do this....geesh. You're a character for sure.

I'm sure the Pete and zoo will be rockin when Duke and Louisville venture in.

Rather BE a "character" than have none. Besides, you're an easy target.....more weak spots than a Matt House defense....or the Bucs first basemen.

There you go again... I wouldn't respond to your posts at all but for the fact that you go completely out of your way to attack me simply because you disagree with my viewpoint. If you want to continue your BS, bring it on, brother! You're completely oblivious to what's going on and simply go out of your way to attack people who aren't on your page. You, soul food, and Joe the buffoon make this board a miserable place. Go take a laxative you old crank. I'm not going to cowtail to an idiot like you.

Not just him Del. Maybe 5 or 6 on here that will attack you no matter what if you 1)don't like Dixon) 2)criticize select players 3)not part of the board clique. I guess it makes them feel powerful and special. I just shake my head when they come out.

Differences of opinions, perceived cliques, and JIGs vs. anti-JIGs aside: Do you have any notion of how many people shake their heads when you come out?

Why would they? It's a flippin message board man, people have different opinions. I like most people on here and try for the most part to be respectful(not perfect but try). I don't get people like you I really don't.

Look, I'm a pretty infrequent poster here and spend a lot less time than others on the site, but what I think folks tend to notice about you is your tendency to be all over the emotional map.

You observe an event representing an anecdotal, or small sample size, extrapolate it, and then express your observation by effectively barfing all over the site with emotional outpourings.

That's why I think people shake their heads, but I could be wrong.

You, soul food, and Joe the buffoon make this board a miserable place.

Again, it's hilarious that you think the people who make this board miserable is anyone other than yourself. You define miserable. You revel in miserable. You constantly bitch and moan, frequently about things that you are clueless about, because you know no other way. I'd say that miserable was your middle name, but in reality it's probably your first name.

Again though, thanks for the laugh. Just remember, everyone is laughing at you, not with you.

No, you and your ilk make the Biard miserable because you can't tolerate an opinion which differs from your own. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm entitled to my opinion that Nutting is a lousy owner and that Big Ben is an overrated QB. Having that opinion, loudmouth, doesn't make me miserable. It just means that I have a different viewpoint than you. You're narrow minded and simply can't see beyond the end of your nose. Your heavy handed posting yesterday is indicative of the mean natured crank you are. I wasn't having any exchange with you when you decided to weigh in on a discussion you weren't involved in to attack me personally. But for your attacks I wouldn't give you or the clique of buffoons who also attack people the time of day. Just go away!

So you attack folks by claiming they attack you?? Chicken/egg thing?? Still have that bowel fetish going, huh??
You claiming something is true doesn't make it so. Same goes for me. Have a nice day!!

You're absolutely right! That's what kills me, these people think that if you CRITICIZE anything or anybody, that means you're "miserable" and that's just not true! It's just your opinion. Like me? I think Big Ben is the 2nd most important Steeler in team history (after Mean Joe) but your opinion of him, is just that, YOUR OPINION, doesn't mean you are "miserable". Some of these idiots think if you're not "positive" all the time, you must be a miserable person, one has nothing to do with the other.

Still laughing at you. This time because it's funny that you don't realize that everything you claim about me is in reality a description of you. Now go back to wallowing in your misery.

You're too dumb to even recognize you're an idiot. You're a narrow minded, vindictive intellectual midget. Go bray with your buddies.

Somewhere along the way, these clowns believed they received a free license to break all the board's rules as regards assailing people who provide negative criticism. They're like a posse of Internet meter maids, one crankier, dumber and more narrow minded than the other. They jump in with both feet even when no one's addressing them directly simply to attack people.

See, the difference, soul food, is that I only get nasty when people aren't civil with me. You on the other hand are always uncivil which explains why you have been banned on some website under the sun at any given point of time. Customer, aisle 7 , suppositories... That's your cue!

Your hemorrhoids are Flared??

I'm perfectly civil.
I don't know you at all, and your internet persona is one of a miserable yinzer, who can find little joy in anything.

I have no problem making that observation as the evidence supports it.

You make petty personal attacks because you both lack wit and have no substance.

Cheers.

I'm smart enough to recognize that you are a miserable, one note moron who attacks people all the time and then gets pissed off when anyone has the audacity to challenge the validity your misery. Oh woe is you, del, woe is you.

And again, hilarious that a one note complainer such as yourself tells someone else to go "bray" at someone. Apparently you don't understand irony any better than you understand basketball or football or baseball, which is to say not at all.

Poor del. Poor, poor del. Why won't people just let you be the miserable sob that you are? Why won't they let you drag everyone and everything down with you? Why? Life is so unfair the the perpetually miserable.

One thing that I never understand is this idea that spewing venom and being negative, makes you "miserable", when in fact, sometimes it's REALLY FUN.

Well it sure makes you come off as miserable, and honestly many of the things you say are pretty dumb.

I feel like a lot of the things YOU SAY are really DUMB too, but I don't pretend to know if you are having a good time saying them or if you are "miserable" whatever that means. I mean I know people who are truly miserable and don't truly enjoy sports. Those are the people that turn off the TV because they are so upset that their team has fallen behind, or the ones that quit watching for the rest of the year because their team 2-10 and out of the race, meanwhile, I can't wait for the next game because I'm hoping to go to 3-10! And sure, if my team REALLY SUCKS, even that doesn't make me "miserable" I still watch and lighten up the mood by ripping the players and coaches when they deserve it, or even when they don't. In the fall I love Steelers and Panthers football and in the winter I love Panthers basketball, and I'm not about to stop watching just because they suck? Now that would be "miserable". It's also like the people who say they'd rather not go to Super Bowl if they knew they would lose! Of course I'd rather go and LOSE, than not go at all. Or the people who say, It's a National Championship or nothing! 30-5 is the same as 5-30 if you don't win it all, and they didn't "enjoy" the good season because they lost in the Sweet 16, or the people that want to LOSE in the 1st round of the Big East or ACC Tourney, to "rest up" for the Big Dance, instead of win every game and enjoy watching as many WINS or TRY TO WINS as possible, or let's cancel our game against UMES, because it will drop our RPI 2 points, or the people that say, "we are eliminated from the playoffs, LET'S LOSE to get a better draft pick", instead of hoping to be entertained by a WIN TODAY, now there you go, those are my definitions about what's a "miserable" attitude for a sports fan.

You're out of your god damned mind.
Duke has a $15 million PRACTICE facility.

Cameron is an amazing place to see a game, which I've been fortunate enough to have been to a few. Only Allen Fieldhouse at Kansas is better.
what makes it "amazing"? The Quonset hut shape with the old rafters? The bleachers? The high school gym crank down hoops from the ceiling? The seating for 9,000? Sounds a lot like Fitzgerald Field house....

Great atmosphere, essentially a shrine to Duke hoops, the National Championship displays throughout...and yes..that it's a cramped and small facility.
Try to visit some of the great hoops facilities around the nation.

The Pete is nice, but FF was a classic, old school hoops gym. I remember a Villanova game in the late '80s, that was a big game, the place was so full I remember we came a little late with student tickets and ended up sitting on the floor about 4 feet behind the baseline right below the basket, from that vantage you could really feel the intensity, Charles Smith (6'11") Tom Griess (7') battling with Big East physicality about 10 feet away. You can't buy a great atmosphere like that now.

I have been attending Pitt hoops games since Billy Knight and I were both in the freshmen class in the Fall of 1970. Conservatively, I've seen about 90+ percent of them in person.

The Fieldhouse had great atmosphere but nothing matched the Pete in the best Big East years. 44 straight wins, all capped off with How Do You Like Me Now blasting as we filed out.
There were a couple UConn games when the roar of the crowd physically hurt your ears.

I can completely understand how sitting only a few feet from the baseline amplified your experience, but the Zoo is basically that intense almost every game.

When both were full, it comes down to math - 6700 screamng fans vs 12500. And the 12500 are closer to the court than most of the 6700 were, albeit higher, because of the design of the upper deck.

I can't argue with you much, I may have been to 100 games at FF and only a handful at The Pete. Both are good.
