Just for comparison sake.

First off a shout out to Pittparade for the original power rankings thread that made this possible.

I’ve taken the mid season ACC power rankings and applied 4 year average recruiting rank by team.

This was derived by taking 4 consecutive recruiting ranks for current So, Jr, Sr, R-Sr classes and arriving at the average for those 4 years.

ACC Sports Nation tweeted this power ranking order on the left. Average recruiting rank, based on my calculations, on the right.

1 Clemson 10
2 Pitt 42
3 Duke 51
4 UVA 58
5 WF 62
6 UNC 26
7 VT 31
8 Louisville 32
9 Miami 17
10 FSU 5
11 NC St 41
12 Syracuse 59
13 BC 67
14 GT 50

A few observations:
— Teams with coaching changes seem to have fallen to the bottom half. In particular two ACC teams with 1st and 3rd highest rated cumulative classes
— the one new coach who has won a National Title (Mack Brown) has team in the top 6
- I’m amazed that Clemson’s classes average out to be 10th (4,6,22,8). They are so elite.
- How can FSU be so bad with all of the talent. Average of 5th nationally (3,2,5,10)
