Ok. Not yet. But the Mexican teams openly want it and MLS owners are resisting. So the natural partnership officially will begin with an announced summer Cup competition between the two leagues and allegedly 48 teams.

everything is a money grab. Isn’t there too much soccer already? Now FIFA wants a World Cup every two years and it’s looking like that will happen. How will that impact qualifying? To me it’s ridiculous. These players already play too much and FIFA, UEFA, etc don’t care. I’ve never been a union guy, but if there was ever a need for a strong players Union, this would be it.

I like the idea, selfishly speaking. I just don’t like how ownership and governing bodies don’t care about player safety. Soccer is not baseball. I laugh when MLB managers play backups on getaway days. 12 months per year of competitive soccer for players is sick. But depending how the clubs approach this competition, it might spark an interest for me. I’m looking for reasons to embrace pro soccer on this continent and have yet to find anything that grabs my interest. But if clubs approach it as a meaningless competition like the Carabao (League) Cup in England…then it won’t do much to grow interest.

An MLS/Liga MX would be great for MLs because TV ratings would be huge in Mexico and the US so more $$$$ for US teams.

World Cup should be every 3 years.

1st Summer: World Cup
2nd Summer: Continental tournaments
WC Qualifying starts after the Continental Tournaments

Not sure you need long, drawn out qualifying competitions just to make the Euros or Asian Cup, etc.

The World Cup must stay at 4 years. That should never change.
I also think it should be staying at 32 teams....but as we know the almighty $ runs the show. It's not about making the game more global or giving countries a chance. It's only to line the deep, thick pockets of those in charge.

So there will be Concacaf Champions league tie-ins attached to this Cup competition.

all games will be played in the US (weird).

will follow a World Cup type of format with group play and knock out rounds

liga MX gets 4 times the viewership that MLS gets. So it would be good for MLS owners.

As I've said, the US needs to figure out a way to join UEFA and be done with Mexico and these stupid North American competitions.

Suriname and Guyana play in CONCACAF instead of South America

Israel plays in UEFA instead of Asia

Australia plays in Asia instead of Oceania

1. Time zones.
2. We are socialist w respect to sports. No point in having a champion of a capped league try to compete with the City’s of the world.
3. Merging/ cooperating more with S. America is far more manageable.

Well, if this were to ever happen, which it won't, you'd theoretically have enough money to go uncapped. Perhaps some rich Arabs buy MLS teams to run as their fantasy teams
