Most difficult thing ....

My condolences.

Mine are:
1-once you have an empty nest,
2-when both parents are gone and
3-acoustic neuroma surgery back in 2003 (I'm sure procedures have improved but not easy)

Two tough things
Personally - losing my best friend unexpectedly at age 14 - made me a basket case for years

Because of feeling helpless - my father in law needing to be removed from life support after elective surgery went bad- just for the heartbreak for my wife and his family .

I don’t think anything else compares to losing loved ones. And, there really isn’t anything anyone can say that eases the pain.

Losing my youngest brother was for me harder than losing my parents, but any losses like those are emotionally devastating.

Losing my two best friends unexpectedly and within two months of each other was almost as hard.

My dad was a week shy of his 97th birthday when he died. Saw him that morning, and got the call in the afternoon. He was my rock and role model. Mom died suddenly at 91.
I still think of them everyday.
