even better than I thought he would be.

Regardless of whether we land Hamlin or not (and if I was an outsider just reading Hamlin's tweets I would say we arent getting him), I think coach did an outstanding job and is a great representative of our fine university.

Looking forward to many years of excellence!

Well, if we don't get him, life goes on and we will put a pretty darn good football team on the field, no matter how many stars the recruits have, this staff will coach them up

Other than the fact it will look bad to the local media, We would be OK. I think Coleman looks awesome, Miller most likely will go Pitt, Garner, Campbell we got and we have Paris Ford already next year. Plus with Narduzzi, who simply is the best DB coach in the WORLD... see MSU, see Whitehead, whoever we get will be coached up to be in the NFL.

That being said... I hope we land Hamlin

Agree, I am very pleased his tenacious, persistent, attitude of Coaching is the same on his Recruiting, plus you know Coach Pat will go after until the final days and hours, because he teaches his Players that same NO QUIT Attitude!

What I find very comforting for the future, Pitt caught the eye of a number National Top Recruits this year, and that means it will just grow in the coming years, as Coach Dantonio has done at MSU now?

Pitt is progressing quite well in upgrading recruiting each year! Very pleasing portending for Pitt Fans!

Could you even imagine a kid passing up Urban Meyer and Columbus for Franklin and the cow patty that is State College??? Wow... if Hamlin would do that he has some issues. I can see Pitt because we are his home town, representing and making a local legend out of yourself. But UPS??? follow the footsteps of who?? Justin King? Has there been any local guys that made big out of Ped state?

Guys, the Pat Signal is for Hamlin. I'd bet big bucks on it. If it were a flip or a new recruit, we'd already know about it. If it were a new commit, we'd already know about it. Everyone's tight lipped. They are letting the kid have his moment. Don't pay attention to his tweets. He throwing everyone off his scent...

Hamlin has been hanging around Pitt for a year. He's been to basketball games, his best buddies from Central (Garner & Wheeler) are going to Pitt. All signs point in Pitt's direction...

Good point, MSU was probably below Pitt in destination options for most high school kids a decade ago. Now they recruit extremely well
Yep, and Michigan State is #10 and now ahead of Penn State bigger Recruiting Program Resources, as they continue to beat them on the Grid Iron badly and now off the Field in Recruiting!

Even better, Coach Pat Narduzzi was there to learn and help do it at Michigan State!!! Watch how Coach Pat & Staff will bring the same fears and tears to Penn State Fans?

LaVar Arrington and Sean Lee come to mind immediately.

to Pittmeisters point.......Bookser dissed Pitt during his recruitment and as it stands at this very moment....he will be a road grader for James Connor's run to glory this season.
Looks like Bookser will inherit the curse of Nick Marmo!

Excerpt From The Past:
Then add to that the disappointing development of Tim Johnson, Nick Marmo, Chris McKelvy, Jason Robinson and Dave Kimball,.....There are more serious problems with Penn State's football program right now.
(1) Why is there an unhappy situation presently on Penn State's coaching staff. Where is the chemistry?
(2) Why did Penn State's coaching staff never create an identity on offense or defense with this football team?
(3) Why have 16 players been moved to different positions since Penn State's first game against Temple (Aug. 31)?

HOW PENN STATE TOP 6th RECRUITING CLASSES SLINK & SINK, LINK To THINK:
So we have taken a closer look at the recruiting class that just wrapped up its collective career at Penn State in order to get a better idea of how it panned out and to see if its ranking out of high school was appropriate. The class that enrolled in 2000 could provide a major key in determining what has caused the downfall of Penn State football over the past few years. This class was considered by most recruiting services as a top-10 group nationally, with Bill Hodge ranking it at No. 6 overall. The class had 29 members, many of whom were highly ranked out of high school. However, 15 of those players, or 52 percent of the class, left the program prematurely due to injury, transfer or other reasons. This was a major impact on the program and essentially diluted the contribution of the class dramatically. Here is a player-by-player breakdown of the class:
Nick Marmo, OL, New Castle (New Castle), Pa:
Then: Considered one of the top line prospects in the nation, Marmo was recruited by the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and Pitt. He could bench 330 pounds. He was also considered the No. 1 college prospect in western Pennsylvania, was a member of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's "Fab 22" team and the All-State second team. A varsity starter since his freshman year of high school, he played center as a freshman and sophomore. He moved to guard as a junior. He also played on the defensive line on a WPIAL AAAA championship team.

The Lowdown: Marmo never lived up to expectations at Penn State. Touted as one of the top offensive lineman prospects out of high school, he saw limited action early on but eventually earned a starting role for the Temple and Boston College games in 2003. But he faded from the picture after those appearances. Following the 2003 season, Joe Paterno advised Marmo to get on with his life. But Marmo convinced the coach to give him one last shot. "He's in the best shape he's ever been in," Paterno said. It did not help. Marmo rarely played in 2004. I recall reading, when he asked to come back for a fifth year he was denied!

LINK TO NICK MARMO'S FAMOUS LAST WORDS BEFORE HE CHOSE PENN STATE AND ENDED HIS CAREER FOR ANY COLLEGE OR NFL JOB:
Excerpt:

Nick and his father met with Harris at Pitt. "Nick doesn't say too much and cuts to the point," Derek said. "Walt Harris asked him what he thought about Pitt and Nick just said, 'Your team stinks and you don't go to bowl games.' "But Nick and I really like Walt Harris. I had to give him credit. He was really prepared for Nick because when Nick said that, Walt said, 'Remember when New Castle was 0-10 and 4-6. Then you won the WPIAL. That's what we're trying to do. The guys at Pitt are trying their hearts out and we need some offensive linemen who are big time.' " A few months later, Marmo made a commitment to Penn State. "My dad likes the decision. He knows that's what I want to do," said Nick, who lives with his father and brother. His parents are separated.

Narduzzi was a great hire. Like Kirby Smart, he's a guy that deserved a head coaching job for a long time

Well... immediately? I didnt even know Lee was local, and he is hardly a star. Arrington was long ago, I barely remember him as well. I think Bowman was far better than him, although not local

Yes. Immediately. And your post didn't say star. It said big things. Lee's been in the league since 2010 and is a good player but has had a few injury issues. And unless something happens he'll be around for a while longer. He's in the middle of a 6 year 42 mil contract. So yea, that's big things.

Paul posluzny, the light skinned wide receiver from Rochester, brian short, sean lee, white dude from canon mac, there has to be more but no one spectacular, then again who is from the area?

Except for our beloved panthers who stay home

Oh I don't disagree at all. For whatever reason local kids have fared better out of Pitt and have reached higher levels. My disdain for PSU is as great as anyone's but they've turned out a few good local players and Lee is certainly one of them.

Well, yeah... but they get a lot of local pittsburgh players, and getting a few of them to be pretty good isnt really on par with what Pitt has done
