Listened to Narduzzi's radio show Tuesday & he mentioned Mitchell playing corner this weekend. Mitchell has filled in beautifully for Whitehead, so why screw that up? Mitchell is the only DB that can play all positions in the secondary, but don't screw this one up!! Your thoughts?

Hamlins rs is long gone

No it's not.

Narduzzi doesn’t usually comment on injuries, and it was a little surprising that he did so with Hamlin. My theory there is that they could be setting Hamlin up for a medical redshirt. If he has another minor injury or his injury from the summer has been re-aggravated, he’s only played about nine quarters of football this season. That should be below the threshold that would be required. Of course, all medical hardship waivers are individually approved by the NCAA.

Medical Hardship Requirements
To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:

  • The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.
  • The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
  • The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.
  • The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

In other words Hamlin doesn't qualify. He played in the second half of the season and he played in 3 games, I believe.

Easy answer why not allow Narduzzi answer it........he did in Today's Trubune...No reason to Panic on the Lair over Mitchell moving around, Pitt has been doing that all year long????

EXCERPT:
Six were redshirted last year, and they look like they might make contributions now and in subsequent seasons. Coach Pat Narduzzi suggested one of them, safety Jay Stocker, might be the most improved player on the team.........“It's nice to be able to sit those guys down and let them redshirt,” Narduzzi said. “We would have liked to have done that with (freshman cornerback) Damar Hamlin.” Pitt redshirted freshman cornerback Therran Coleman, and Narduzzi had high praise for him, too: “In another year, that's going to be a big, athletic corner who's going to turn some heads,” he said...............Pitt is playing four safeties and five cornerbacks for the most part, including wide receiver Maurice Ffrench, who took snaps on both sides of the ball last week against Duke.“It's allowed our guys to be fresher going into the fourth quarter,” Hill said, “and letting guys (who aren't playing every snap) see it from a different perspective.”............

Yeah I would think the fact that he played would disqualify the early season injury as the reason. Therefore he did not get hurt in the first half of the season.

They experimented with Maurice Ffrench at CB, so I suppose they're willing to try anything.

Look for Jay Stocker to get a lot of time at safety.
