Coach Narduzzi alluding to an all-white alternate uniform. I’m assuming this means white jerseys and pants, not sure about a white helmet.

Awaiting full confirmation but got this leaked early photo…

"Iced Whites" was on the dessert menu when I visited Jeffrey Dahmer for a dinner party back in the day. But I went with Caramelized Pacific Islander. Wasn't bad.

I'm sure to the players and up close they are going to have great detail and design, but at the end of the day they look like white uniforms to 99.99% of the people who aren't 16" away.

By the way, I'd love to see the blue and yellow Pitt jerseys and the Clemson orange at Heinz Field like they do for the USC and UCLA game.

Oh good God. We only wore the regular home unis twice last season, now another alternative uni?
Agreed, but it’d be much more tolerable if they just added different colored pants and not alternates that don’t even have school colors!

I actually don’t think those are the real white pants. The “Panther Head” likely wouldn’t appear on the pants since there’s no logos on the other pants (not to mention the size is disproportionate to the Nike swoosh). Speaking of the swoosh, it’d likely be royal blue to match the jersey, not black.

We’re definitely getting an all-white alternate (I like how they’re not mismatching and keeping the alternates monochrome), but these are likely a temporary fix until the real ones come in.

Are we sure Iced Whites isn't just the new name for the Golden Panthers?

Oh wait... can I say that?

Yeah, the panther head on the pants looks like a helmet merit sticker someone just stuck on generic white Nike pants.

I'd rather first have a 10-win season.

We've had one in the past 40 seasons.

Does that make me greedy?

To save some of you the tremendous angst you seem to have, realize that there will ALWAYS be an alternative uniform that will likely change over time.

Now, maybe your BP will go down, and we can once again allow you to walk unescorted over the Clemente bridge.

I think Cardiac Hill jumped the gun on this. A recruit calling his pics Icey doesn’t necessarily equate to an official reveal.

An alternative uni is fine, but they need to wear the regular home unis at home for every game save maybe the alt uni game. Last year I think they wore the home unis twice, which is absurd.

I'd rather they have one uniform for home and one for away, and then stick with it.

i agree, some away game like a nooner at duke or something. if it is a home game, do it on the FCS scrimmage on labor day or even the the new hampshire game where interest will be low to begin with.

Just give the fans what we want. Get rid of the trash Script Pitt and ugly colors and go back to Block Pitt.

#BlockPitt4Life.
Who needs text? We should just stick with our most globally recognized branding and slap Dinocats on everything.

I like them a helluva lot. I like our current white pants white jerseys.
So long as we avoid the WVU syndrome of wearing something just because we can I’m fine.

yeah duzz letting the players pick isn't the best idea. i get it from his perspective. but the athletic department needs to make smarter decisions. there are paying customers in the building - cater to them.

I really don't understand the fascination with alternate uniforms. In 30 years of going to games, the only game I ever was excited to attend solely for the uniform is when Pitt finally broke out their classics several years ago. It was a thing of beauty and something we had to wait too long for.

But overall, I just don't see the benefit. I've never heard a recruit attend a school because of all of the uniform combinations they get to wear. I've never seen a college kid who doesn't act like the new uniforms are FIRE no matter how ugly they are. Fans buy new merchandise as long as it looks good. Come out with some killer fan products and they'll buy them, not because they're wearing some new jersey on the field. I suppose I'm just old school when it comes to uniforms. When you have a classic right in front of you and rarely wear it, I just don't get it.

Well these days it seems like people can't commit to just one thing, so we will need a different uniform for every game. Those who make the playoffs will make more money because they will have more jerseys.

Oregon went from the ugliest uniforms in football without having posting a 10-win season in their 83-year history, to creating a 3-year new uniform cycle sponsored by Nike in 1999. They had 10 10+win seasons in the next 15 years.

Obviously a lot of that is coaching and probably program culture change, but you can't tell me that the whole uniform system didn't play a huge part in the minds of recruits.

I think the money Nike threw into recruiting budgets, facilities and coaches pay was the dog. Uniforms are the tail.

I absolutely disagree that it was the tail. I was in high school in 2000 and saw kids in western Pennsylvania that probably couldn't point to Oregon on a map suddenly wearing their gear. Every time Oregon was mentioned on ESPN for an entire decade, their uniforms are mentioned. They became cool nationally almost over night.

They set the new standard for uniforms. There's a reason that schools are constantly making small changes to their uniforms and creating alternates. The uniforms might not have landed any recruits but I would guarantee it got a lot more recruit eyes on the program. The uniforms established their brand.

Knight made better use of his Autzen Stadium suite during Bellotti's first year at the helm, which was successful enough to end with a trip to the Cotton Bowl, where the Ducks lost to Colorado, 38–66.

The day after Oregon's drubbing in the Cotton Bowl, Knight met for drinks with Bellotti and his offensive coordinator.

"What would it take to get to the next level?" Knight asked Bellotti. "Well," the Ducks head coach said, "if we had an indoor facility that we could use to practice in the fall, we could raise ourselves considerably."

Phil Knight is a bitch.

Oregon is such a unique situation from the rest of college football. Nike uniforms became Oregon's brand and identity. Pitt's is the script and the blue and gold--something no one in college football wears besides Pitt. It's our identifiable brand and after getting it right, they are already moving away from it.
