Bill O'Brien?looks likes it's going to be someone from the NFL
....or...they're abiding by someone's wishes and waiting until after LOI Day.looks likes it's going to be someone from the NFL
Time will tell, still may be a college guy. If it's a NFL guy not coaching in the playoffs, he should have been named by now. With that said, with the teams in playoffs, who could it be?
I cannot read the pay board but some on there thought Ed Warinner was possibly coming to be our OC.
I think there is an agreement with the candidate pitt has selected to defer an announcement until after LOI day.
I think that when there is a strong relationship between a candidate and his current HC and that if that HC believes the asst. in question has been instrumental in landing several recruits, the HC is likely to request the asst. to defer leaving until after the LOI day to avoid a negative hit on recruiting. Oftentimes the candidate will try to accommodate his current boss to avoid burning bridges. I think given the state of Pitt's current recruiting(Pitt not really chasing many offensive players and having their QB recruits locked up) Narduzzi would likely be flexible on the announcement date. It's just about business and relationships. Why do you think that? What purpose does this serve? Other than serving some other teams needs. Then some of there teams verbals get screwed over. I don't see this happening for many reasons.

I don't think it has much of a thing to do with teams bring in the playoffs once the playoffs have been concluded. At that point, It's more about the relationships involved and the specific circumstances. For example, if Narduzzi happened to know the other head coach. he might be more flexible. On the other hand if Pitt were trying to get a commitment from a QB right now, I think Narduzzi would be a lot less flexible. The other potential factor is that the announcement date can be a bargaining chip in discussions related to the asst.'s buyout if the asst. has a buyout. The asst.'s program could be much more flexible on the buyout amount in return for an agreement to defer the announcement date. It's all a negotiation...Aside from teams in the playoff, how often does this scenario play out?
Mike Munchak
You could very well be right... I'm just speculating based on the interview of this weekend's visitors and their disclosure that Narduzzi indicated that the announcement would be in 2-3 weeksDel, I still think the announcement is before LOI.
If it is Napier, why the wait until after LOI--let's be brutally honest, does anyone seriously think if Napier comes to Pitt as OC before LOI day, that any Alabama recruits will automatically flip to Pitt from Alabama?
The concern wouldn't be their flipping to Pitt but flipping to their second choice assuming they had a close relationship with NapierIf it is Napier, why the wait until after LOI--let's be brutally honest, does anyone seriously think if Napier comes to Pitt as OC before LOI day, that any Alabama recruits will automatically flip to Pitt from Alabama?
Who else in the NFL could it be? I have no idea who qualifies as a potential candidate outside of my team (Packers).
And it wouldn't be an NFL OC. It would be a position coach. An NFL OC would not make a lateral move to college.
There's nothing on the pay board stating its going to be a NFL guy. Thank godIt's on the pay board but it sounds like it might be an NFL guy
You are referencing college coaches, but practically no college assistants have buyouts. They would have to be a very highly paid coordinator to have a buyout.I don't think it has much of a thing to do with teams bring in the playoffs once the playoffs have been concluded. Canada had one. It's not unusual given what coordinators are paid to have buyouts. They are becoming standardYou are referencing college coaches, but practically no college assistants have buyouts. They would have to be a very highly paid coordinator to have a buyout.
I'm I'm not mistaken their been a bunch of coordinators jump from NFL to college, especially to the SEC so it's not uncommon

Never saw the quote of the amount but only that he had one. Saw that confirmed in a couple of places.what was the exact amount?
Do you think Van Pelt wants to call plays again and would make the move? Getsy has a growing reputation but has only called plays at IUP if I remember correctly.Who else in the NFL could it be? I have no idea who qualifies as a potential candidate outside of my team (Packers).
It was reported in the press... don't blame me...sheesh. What's your problem? Why the attitude? Why so hard to believe? You pay a guy a big salary.. you want to discourage his being poached. What's so hard to understand about that!i find that really hard to believe. Pitt goes out of their way to make sure nobody knows salary information. not one person on these boards knows the pay of any assistant on the staff, yet people seem to think they know there way a buyout and they know it was a lot of money? c'mon. funny thing, they cannot produce any factual information. nothing has been confirmed anywhere.
what happens a lot on these boards is that somebody posts a number and then people assume it to be a fact.
