NFL Draft Thread

I view him as a backup type.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Fromm has a better pro career than Joe Burrow. You heard it here first.

The reality that is the Bungles will make his one amazing year at LSU a distant memory, and it won’t take long. That’s a hopeless, hapless organization.

The Steelers or Pitt could draft or pick any scrub and you would blow them.
He ain’t wrong, I think this is a solid pick. Perfect athleticism and speed for the 3-4 but his run defense could use some improvement. Very similar to Shane Ray when he was at Mizzou.

Plus, they needed a OLB after getting rid of Chickillo.

If the Steelers take a QB I can see it being a high upside developmental player. Fromm may have a good career but his ceiling seems limited. It’s more likely he is a solid backup spot starter a la Brian Hoyer or Colt McCoy. That isn’t bad to have but really if they get to the point where they need to rely on any backup QB because Ben is out then this season is probably a wash anyway. So I’m not sure if the value that Fromm would add.

Highsmith to the Steelers isn’t a surprise. They loved the guy in interviews and visits. I have only seen his highlights but I can see why they like his potential as a pass rusher. He can bend and uses his hands with a nice variety of moves. It may be a little earlier than some like, but they needed to get a potential replacement for Dupree so it makes sense.

He showed some signs of declining last year, I see no reason to think he will improve this season.

No problem with Green Bay taking a QB, their mistake was trading up when there was no need to. They could’ve traded out of the 1st round and more than likely still been able to pick up Love. If not either Eason or Fromm would’ve been available as a developmental QB. It made it look like they don’t know what they’re doing.

Eason sucks. Least favorite QB I've ever scouted.

Breakout year: 22 percentile
QBR: 27 percentile
YPA: 38 percentile

Sub 60% completion in the PAC12. I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole.

First 3 rounds belong to the SEC with 40 picks (LSU 10 & Bama 9). Not a surprise but this year more than ever without the on campus workouts, interviews etc the big name schools will dominate until maybe late picks.

Pretty much confirms that other than OSU the southern schools consistently have the most talent. That’s why it makes sense for Pitt to continue recruiting FL, Georgia etc. Though this year due to the circumstances it will be harder because most southern kids have not been able to visit yet.

Hope Dane Jackson goes soon. He will have a better career than half of the corners taken before him. Not having on campus workouts really hurt any chance for guys like Johnson & Ffrench to maybe sneak into the last round with a great workout. I think both guys would have ran really well.

Dabo raved about him after Clemson played Charlotte this year.
Shhh we’re all just dorks and followers. ;)

But in all seriousness, that was good to see. Apparently he was third in all of college football in sacks?

Thanks for the clarification. So what happens to his 5th year option then? And it doesn’t change the fact that he is going to be looking for big money after 2020 or 2021, which doesn’t sound like the Steelers at all.

If a team would pick up his 5th year option then they are on the hook for the full amount of the option, and that's true whether the team that does it is the team that drafted him or a team he is traded to. That option year is basically a new, one year contract, all salary, no bonus.

And yes, I agree, any team that would trade for him would probably have to be someone who thinks that picking up that 5th year option is the right move. Well, either that or they have to be taking into account that they are probably only going to get one season out of him, which is certainly a reason why his trade value seems so low.

You guys are such dorks and followers , just open your eyes.
They can't and take offense for some of us making remarks for players making millions of $$$$. Its just a message board not gospel. To each his/her own. It's like people can't say anything about dem stillers since it's sacrilegious.

Next Steelers pick is Anthony McFarland, RB from Maryland. Tomlin’s son plays at Maryland so he must’ve seen something he likes.

His arm isn’t good enough to be an every day starter in the NFL.

Geno Stone just got drafted by Ravens. Not great as a Steelers fan but they just showed South Fayette highlights on ESPN for when he played there while at New Castle... pretty cool!

LOVE the Steelers seventh round pick, Carlos Davis from Nebraska. He’s a Kansas City native; actually got to watch him and his brother Khalil in high school at Blue Springs, both are ballers. There was one game where they both took over, defeating Lee’s Summit who was QB’d by now-Broncos QB Drew Lock. Awesome to see they both got drafted today!

Hopefully he can provide some nice interior defensive line depth and develop into a solid 3-technique DL. I’d also say he’s the more athletic one of the two.

I’ve heard that about a few NFL all-pros before.

Let’s face it-his arm was good enough for three SEC Championship games, a Rose Bowl, a National Championship game and some Sugar Bowls. It was also good enough to run Jacob Eason and Justin Fields out of the UGA program.

The Ravens drafted a LOT of guys that I liked.

Patrick Queen has All-Pro ceiling.

JK Dobbins could be a 3 down back or just elite in a timeshare. He's good.

Devin Duvernay is a burner for the outside stuff. Proche is elite with the ball in the air.

I liked both of the OGs that they took as well.

They are a really impressive franchise. Just always doing smart things.

6'4 WR
220 lbs
4.4 40 speed

7, count em, 7 catches in the NFL and eventually washed out in Canada

Limas Sweed, anyone?

Big, fast receiver

complete bum.

If this kid from ND busts like Sweed did that should be the end of Kevin Colbert

I think the difference is this guy has demonstrated he is good at catching the ball in traffic and has good hands. Had Sweed been able to catch anything outside of a cold he would have been a very good lick. The dude was always open but couldn’t catch a cold

It’s not a horrible pick and not a great pick. I’d much rather have taken dobbins and gotten a lower rated wr later on
