Can one of our enlightened progressives explain how the Betsy Ross flag is racist ?

It isn't. Kaeperrnick is a whiny douchebag who couldn't hack it as a starting QB and so came up with a way to no longer be exposed as a one trick pony QB.

Wait.....what? Who the hell is this douchebag that he even has a right to say anything about what Nike does? And why is Nike stupid enough to listen to him?

It's freakin' Independence Day!! You display the flag at every opportunity, even if it hurts some Communist's feelings.

Careful. You’re entering into racist territory

He claims the celebration and honor of Betsy ross suggests a celebration during a time of slavery and racism.

Therefore, all flags resembling a Betsy Ross flag is racist. Erase her from history. No streets, schools, or government buildings may display her flag, picture, or name.

Is it racism to bring up the overnight news in Hazlewood, West Mifflin and Wilkinsburg..

In fairness
Use of the flag in clothing is disrespectful.
So I am guessing you would agree that Nike would have removed it from their product line if the President of the United States had requested them to to so, eh? It would have made them see the error of their ways and all...

company is trying to appease to their demographic. young "urban" youth aren't exactly patriotic these days and that's who buys their "gear."

hate the flag, hate the cops, fight the man blah blah blah. just trying to sell their 40 dollar tee shirts and over priced sneakers to inner city youth and keep that slice of the pie happy..

Exactly.
This whole thing started when he got benched and sat like a spoiled brat and then turned it into a political shit storm that it was . It was never about the oppressed black man crap .

I like them. And I am not a Nike show person but if I were, I would be sporting those on the 4th.

From the Arizona Governor.

"Nike has made its decision, and now we’re making ours. I’ve ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here.

Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike. We don’t need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history.

And finally, it shouldn’t take a controversy over a shoe for our kids to know who Betsy Ross is. A founding mother. Her story should be taught in all American schools. In the meantime, it’s worth googling her."

Symptomatic of the bigger problem we have in our country. A growing segment that hates America and all it stands for. How can we survive as a "United" States when so many are taught to be ashamed of and despise the land they live in?

that's a big reason why dems want open borders.. votes and to rid us of any identify of a country. any mention of patriotism is xenophobic and racist.. re-write the history books and re-teach the past..

Make no mistake, the US flag is offensive to the democratic party.

Rather ironic that "progressives" are trying to create what illegals are desperately fleeing.

Maybe to the very left of the party but not for majority like me who are more towards the middle. Our country may have it's share of faults and conflict that we need to deal with but anyone with even limited intelligence knows how good we have it.

Always had to shake my head at these illegals who flee their garbage country cause they are living in miserable countries and as soon as they get into the USA, they wave the flag of the place they just left.

It’s like a woman finally leaving her husband after decades of getting beaten only to find a new home and sending him flowers.

kind of depends on what website you hit for a reference on this..
I'm not sure how the flag code can be read to mean that.

https://www.legion.org/flag/code

The same site has this:

Is it permissible to wear an item of clothing that looks like the United States flag?
Category:
Miscellaneous
Question:
Is it permissible to wear an item of clothing that looks like the United States flag?
Answer:
Unless an article of clothing is made from an actual United States flag, there is NO breach of flag etiquette whatsoever. People are simply expressing their patriotism and love of country by wearing an article of clothing that happens to be red, white, and blue with stars and stripes. There is nothing illegal about the wearing or use of these items.

I read that there was no US flag at the debates. Looking at pictures, I see the logo had a partial flag image, but no flag was present.

One of the original confederate flags had the circle of stars, and he is making the connection from that flag to the Betsy Ross flag as being racist.. because he is a moron.

1.
To bring together; meld or fuse: "The problems [with the biopic] include ... dates moved around, lovers deleted, many characters conflated into one" (Ty Burr).
2. To combine (two variant texts, for example) into one whole.
3. To fail to distinguish between; confuse. See Usage Note below.
[Latin cōnflāre, cōnflāt- : com-, com- + flāre, to blow; see bhlē- in Indo-European roots.]
con·fla′tion n.
Usage Note: Traditionally, conflate means "To bring together; meld or fuse," as in the sentence I have trouble differentiating Jane Austen's heroines; I realized I had conflated Elizabeth Bennet and Emma Woodhouse into a single character in my mind. In our 2015 survey, 87 percent of the Usage Panelists accepted this traditional usage. Recently, a new sense for conflate has emerged, meaning "To mistake one thing for another," as if it were a synonym for confuse. In 2015, our usage panelists found this new sense to be marginally acceptable, with 55 percent accepting the sentence People often conflate the national debt with the federal deficit; when the senator talked about reducing the debt, he was actually referring to the deficit.

yes, that is the American Legion's (or some guy from the legion) thoughts on the matter (guessing your first google hit) in regards to the code. ... A T-shirt that has the an actual American Flag on it is an American Flag..You can cut it out and put it on a stick and it is what it is...still a judgement call...

Not according to the code.

Not according to the code.
according to the code:

The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.

lots of room for interpretation there...says nothing about the flag being ripped off a pole and put on as a hat or a shirt...a machine screen printing a shirt is taking a flag and putting it on a shirt..

also according to the code:

The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

ever see a pre-game football field flag?
