Northwestern

By far the dumbest bowl ever. Why the hell play a bowl game in a baseball game let alone up north?
College football needs to get rid of half the shitty bowls.
Sucks for Pitt they have to win their conference in order to get a good bowl.

Northwestern does not look like a good team, but it does look like they have the talent to surprise if Pitt doesnt take them seriously. 6-6, but with wins over Duke, Indiana and Iowa.

Also, I don't know much about him, but their player to watch is probably Austin Carr, the Big Ten receiver of the year.

Every single one of this guy's posts trashes Pitt's bowl prospects.

I'm a Pitt fan and this bowl sucks, it's Homers like you that make me puke
I don't think anyone on this board believes you're a PITT fan, you can stop with the act.

Although I would love to have a game in the south on Charlotteour Orlando, this game sets up much better than the Sun Bowl in terms of PITT fan attendance.

1.) The Pinstripe Bowl has quickly become one of the better mid-tier bowls. NYC during the holidays? Two P5 conferences + Notre Dame? Pretty fun set up all things considered.

2.) Hell no, there is nothing better than having college football on pretty much every day for 2.5 weeks. Who gives a flying **** if the bowls 'don't mean anything'? Bowls haven't meant anything for decades. The more college football to watch, the better.

Atleast El Paso we would play a relevant team. NW shouldn't even be in a bowl.
I don't think it would happen, but i wouldn't be surprised if they lost.
Would be tough to get up for this game in my opinion.
NW will lull them to sleep.

Enough of the "X team should not be in a bowl." That kind of comment has a way of coming back to haunt you.

I disagree. They'll have no problem getting up for a big ten team, they'll slap them up and down the field just like the other one they played.

Ask BethJohn if I am since he is my friend. I don't have to be a fake fan boy to be a fan, I'm real

I've never understood bitching about too many bowls not meaning anything etc.... I love seeing a bunch of team I normally would not see ...it's fun... to hell with that old crusty Ron Cook crap perspective

Last year we thought we would pound Navy also. Bowl games are different. I have seen NW play and they can be very god.
Who on earth thought that? Navy had one of the best players in America.

he is a Pitt fan. And the stakes for Pitt in the Sun wouldf have been much higher than thiey are in the Pinstripe matchup. Pitt will get no credit for beating Nothwester...6-6...yawn. You beat Stanford or Utah in the Sun ... you go up in the ratings.

It has? Every year they seem to get 5 and 6 loss teams. In fact, Pitt might be the highest ranked team they've ever had. Face it. We got jobbed because the better bowls didn't want us. Best case scenario is that Pitt sells a lot of tickets and has two years of nice sales to convince a decent bowl next season.

A little higher, yeah. And could brag a little more leading up to it. But agree less wiggle room and more to lose v NW. But either way a win finishes them near top20.

Doesn't matter, it is a win against a P5 team. Won't move the needle more than the pinstripe bowl. Weather in El Paso not that much better than NYC. Although I think we match up better against Stanford who has a pretty bad offense. Of course Northwestern has a Biletnikof candidate receiver who will probably have a career day. But I like playing a B1G team and having a chance to go 2-0 in the conference.

This is as big as the 2008 Sun Bowl. A chance to finish season ranked, 9 wins for the 1st time since Wanny the Great, and beating a Big 10 team. May even lead to pre-season ranking. Lot on the line here.

No it's not as big as the Sun which gets way more pub on CBS. Stanford's been a big name since Harbaugh coached there. 95% of the country won't even know that this game has been played at 2 on a weekday where one of the opponents has a .500 record. All you need to know about the Pinstripe is where it stacks up in the Big Pretend bowl lineup...near the bottom.

You totally missed everything I said in the post, but that doesn't surprise me.
