Not the way we wanted it.. But necessary win

One thing I don't get is Sterling Smith's shooting numbers, this guy shot the ball 300+ times last year and this year at Pitt is only around 110 and his 3point numbers were at 182 times at a 41 percent clip and he has only 82 attempts at 44% with five games remaining

Why won't this kid shoot the ball?

Seriously....thoughts?
It certainly isn't because the coaches don't want our 2-guard to shoot. Chris Jones took 14 shots last night, including 10 three-pointers.

Smith's reluctance to shoot is a mystery.

Things are moving too fast for him at this level.

Well, after being left for dead by many, including me, Chris Jones has played himself into the starting lineup. He's had 3 fairly productive games in a row.

That doesn't mean we found anything, except that Jones is a slightly bettr option than Smith. Or has been recently.

I am happy that Jones had a great night because without it we lose. I don't read much into it or his recent play. I am skeptical that it is just a streak like flipping tails on a coin several times in a row. There is a decent amount of evidence proving that Jones is at best a mediocre shooting guard.
Jones might be better than Smith, but neither is good.

it's midway thru February and we still don't know who our top 5 are..
Well, once you get beyond Young, Artis, and Robinson, the difference between the players is marginal. It's really almost luck that player A will be "playing" better than player B on a given night. At least Dixon recognizes that and alters his rotation to accept that.

We have depth but we don't have quality.

Of course you won't. Because I've set up shop in your narrow kitchen. The fact that you've fabricated some sort of "vision" of who I am and what my background is in an attempt to denigrate me anonymously is the evidence. The childish name calling and insults are the icing.

LMAO! I'm starting to like this guy.....

Ogres are scary. You're just kind of dumb and annoying. But you do maintain your reputation very well if it's any consolation.
Not dumb , just too sharp for the many dullards on the board of which you are one.

If that gets you through the night my friend, by all means sleep on that.
He will never let you get the last word, so I would get out now if I were you, and that is not meant to be an insult to him, just letting you know.

I'm trying to understand what problem Ntop has with anything phatwood said.
Phat was right on point.
Dixon has all the leverage and has little reason to change if he doesn't want to.

Glad phat finally came over, solid poster all around.

And that's it. IF Dixon is the Pitt man, or "legacy driven", he'll make changes.

But it won't be because some guy in a suit walks in and makes subtle threats. Because quite frankly Jamie Dixon has far more job security than that Athletic Director, as well as millions more reasons to stay in Pittsburgh unlike the Athletic Director.

For some reason, understanding basic human behavior rather than projecting our hopes and desires is frowned upon here.

Oh, to answer your question Souf:

I'm new here so I'm still learning the individual "schticks".

So far, I'm guessing NTOP attacks anyone who he thinks attacks the coach. Much like the PittPirates jag on the other board.

Could be wrong.

Pittpirates guy is here too, something like UP129. Same m.o. NTOP is pretty opinionated, but not a bad guy at all. A more positive version of Del, also not a bad guy, a bit gloomy.
