** After Monday’s loss, I guess I just about ran out of anger about this team and this season.

** And like most of you, more or less I ran out of hope after Monday’s loss too. But also much like most of you, I still dared to hope for a win today to keep the NCAA Tournament Dream alive.

** After all, it’s hard for me to understand why if you aren’t going to hold out all hope, why be a fan at all?

** Because of this, I suppose I enjoyed watching this game today. A close basketball game is always a pleasure.

** When Ish’s shot to win fell short, I voiced a sound of displeasure. But that was about it. And at this moment, I probably don’t feel any worse about the team than I felt around 3:59 pm.

** This seems kind of sad actually.

** Just over two months ago, there seemed to be so much promise. There seemed to be an even more promising, if not even exciting spring on the way.

** Not anymore.

** It’s not really worth the bother of digging into this loss, thinking about what we did well, and the longer, mostly typical list of the things we didn’t.

** We also have months to dive into the state of the program, the capabilities of the coaching staff, the players we’ll need to improve our standing, and whether or not we’ll have the NIL dollars needed to make it happen.

** Previously I had thought that most of that time would instead be spent talking about the NCAA tournament, much like we did two years ago. But no.

** And unlike the last two years, we move into our last 8 games with not much to play for. For me, that’s the saddest part of all.

** So sure, I’ll still watch on Tuesday too, hoping a QUAD 1 win in University Park, Texas sparks the 8-0 run that we’ll need to get into the tournament. It’s what fans do.

** But I know that it’s not going to happen.

I congratulated my UNC friend on the win at about 9 am this morning. After the game I told him I think the result was more a reflection of how average UNC is than how well Pitt may have played on the road. We both agreed neither team deserves to go to the Dance.

With the University about to collapse because of no NIH funding let’s just scrap it all.

Ugh.

I think you made a post in December about are NCAA chances being so good and I commented like it's been 10+ years since we went into conference play with the NCAAT a forgone conclusion. The fall has been incredible. From a 5 seed to not even on the bubble in 6 weeks. I was hoping we could be a 4 in Cleveland and as it stands, it would take a miracle just to get to the other Ohio city. Realistically, probably need 8-0 or 7-1 + 1, maybe 2 in ACCT. Chances of this happening? 1%-2%

Ish Lowe and Dunn 9-30 and that’s all she wrote
We knew that superior guard play was needed to be a good team and those guys have regressed starting with Duke when Dunn returned

More like 0%. Capel is lost. He doesn't coach, so his only job is to put the right players on the floor. He hasn't been any good at that either.

For sure we'll need 8-0 to even think we might get into the NCAAT now. And even if that happens, the prospects of us making out of the first weekend would be less than 10%. And the chances of us going 8-0 are zero. I only see maybe 2 possible wins going into the ACCT, if we even make that one.

You know, I was talking to my parents on the phone after the game and we all commented that we weren’t all that distraught over the game. It says a lot when a team is virtually eliminated from the dance and the hardcore fan reacts with just a heavy sigh.

What a season

Keep the faith, brother!

This season just isn’t working out as hoped . The loss of Blake and Bub were just too much to overcome . They can’t overwhelm you with offense to offset their weakness on the boards and defense .

I think we’re just expecting too much from Jalen .
They have three guys all trying to do the same thing on offense
Dunn was a nice addition , but he doesn’t add diversity to the mix of guards
Corhen was also a nice addition , but he needs to paired with a stout defender and rebounder . Which they don’t have .
They’ve got nothing from Cummings and Amsal
The twins just don’t seem to have the ability to take a giant leap forward .
Zac has exceeded my expectations this season , but it’s not enough to overcome everything else
There appears at this time that no one on the bench is a stud in waiting .

They’ve lost 4 close winnable games they’re almost good enough . Almost !

While I haven't gotten angry as you have, I have been despondent. As despondent as I ever have been other than watching the Scottie Reynolds layup go in. There has been absolutely no joy watching this team over the past month. What really kills me about today's game is we had so many chances. Every time we grabbed the lead and had opportunities to extend, we just blew it over and over again. And the execution at the end was atrocious. Think about the fact that both times Capel called a TO to draw up a play, the ensuing plays utterly failed. GDG's turnover on the attempted entry to Corhen was hideous. That was followed by the inability to even inbound the ball. All of this to me is just a reflection on how poorly coached we are. What's also tough is knowing how important it was for this program to get to The Dance this year. This season is now a major setback, and I shudder to think how next year could look.

Told you after the VT game I knew this team stinks. Capel stinks. Loss after loss I kept reading how it's okay because we did so well in the non-conference smh. Yawn. Now lost 7 of 9 games and this team is a mess. Year 7 of Jeff Capel.

Please don’t take this as a criticism as like everyone else I enjoy reading your post game dribbles (they are always really well thought out and entertaining) but this has to be one of the most depressing /somber post game dribbles of all time, and appropriately so.

The teams crash and burn we’ve observed over the last month or so has been stunning. I think if we are being honest we all knew this team had flaws even when they were winning (rebounding and lethargic starts). But there’s something else that has occured that’s hard to put your finger on that has contributed to the crash. It just doesn’t appear as though these guys are playing together as a team any longer. You don’t see the energy they had earlier in the year and their body language is awful. Theres a few guys playing hero ball and the rest standing around and deferring The staff has lost them and doesn’t appear to have any answers

I had my casual doubts, but it didn't fully sink in for me until towards the end of the first half of the Virginia game, and by that point the dismal fate of this year's team could no longer be denied. Not so long ago we were still reading constant assurances about our diligent work in the non-conference schedule, and this year's weak bubble, and we were this year's Clemson. Go back a little further and we were reading projections of a 16-4 or 17-3 ACC record. Then in the last few weeks this turned into another signature Jeff Capel season.

You can be my copy boy . Thanks
Astounding grace exhibited by you, Golf Dr. You made some very good points, and this Poker idiot corrects your name spelling after doing nothing but his normal nay-kabob'ing. No wonder I have him blocked. And the great humor of your rejoinder is no doubt lost on the nimwit
