Those of you using the Parkway East on Thursday:

Both directions will be down to one lane at points between 9pm and 5am.

It won't effect you getting to the game but it will add time to the drive home.

Construction happening November 11-14.
Maybe we will get lucky and they will finish a day early!

PenDot workers/subcontractors are the worst. Here in Vegas, entire bridges and overpasses are built in the time it takes to fix a stretch of existing highway. Pathetic.

Also why are they still working on roads deep into November? I know there weather has been mild but it seems like they are cutting it awfully close with starting some of these smaller projects now.

You really comparing a flat open terrain with great year round weather area to a old urban center with hills/mountains/ rivers and most importantly a harsh winter? Fabulous, I love it.

I tried to unravel the mysteries of PennDOT once and I can't really help you other than to point out that they sometimes start projects later because they have unused funds or need to do something ahead of winter. There are a lot of federal rules, too.

Good point. Look at the bus swallowing sinkhole downtown. They estimate that will take 2-3 months to fix, obviously because of the hills, mountains and rivers that intersection crosses and the harsh weather we've had lately.

Sounds like a good time to resurrect that thread about how best to get to Heinz Field from the East, Parkway, Rt 28 or Cranberry exit to I79/279!!

When I lived in Pittsburgh and drove to eastern PA, I remember many highway stretches that seemed to be under construction for 10 years. Always had barriers and equipment sitting there forever.
