Just beat the crap out of them.
Show no mercy.
Run up the score and rub their noses in the dirt.
Best thing for college football is to keep them out of the hunt for the National Championship.

A whole bunch of teams who are unbeaten may get screwed if Notre Dame has 1 loss.
They will get the benefit of the doubt just because they are Notre Dame. Not fair but more important not right.
Just stop them guys, please.

Run up the score on them? Ok. LOL!
Yes lol seems like a ridiculous thing to suggest. But if somehow we play the best game we've seen in years and are up 35 points with 5 minutes left, go ahead and score again! Give the Irish fans something to cry about.

This is unlikely to happen, I think it's gonna be a good, close game whether we can actually pull it out or not. But not only would I love to see Pitt run up the score, the notion that when you have a huge lead you should lay down and die is so ridiculous. You don't wanna get blown out? Try playing harder.

They need a lesson they will never forget.

I totally agree, I hope we stomp Notre Dame, my 2 favorite teams are Pitt and any school playing ND

Playing and Beating one of Best Programs in all of CFB is what Doc Sutherland believed in playing and doing and after ND lost 5 straight to Pitt, removed Pitt from the schedule, but Knute and Sutherland still conversed many times anyway! Still, ND has beaten Pitt far more than we beat ND!

But this is why it is a Honor & Privilege in playing ND, and ND is a Program if you beat them they still respect your Program too! Pitt is right there with Navy, USC, Purdue and MSU, in playing ND the most in their Great History!

No one is saying one has to love or like them, but they do deserve Respect when you play them and provide the opportunity to play them!

I'm confused, are you saying that N.D. lost to Pitt 5 straight and cancelled the Series ? Also are you referring to "Jock" Sutherland ?

Also are you referring to "Jock" Sutherland ?

Actually, he was, but it would not be incortect to refer to hin as "Doc". since he was a dentist and served on the dental school faculty while doubling as football coach. (Not all that unusual back then. Rockne taught chemistry while coaching at ND. Maryland's Curley Byrd doubled as football coach and university vice president, and only gave up coaching when he became president of the school.)

Jock Sutherland was one the best surfers in the world years ago in Hawaii...surfing big Waimea Bay at night. "Jocko's" surf spot was named after him. Obviously, not the "Jock" we are speaking about here. Tough game on Saturday. ND definitely respects Pitt. (BTW, Tommika, you get around...) Always a hard-played game.

Hate to burst your bubble, but there is no way in the world Pitt is going to stomp Notre Dame. Pitt just doesn't have the talent to compete with Notre Dame. As we witnessed last week, they barely had the talent to compete with North Carolina. Pitt's offense is pretty mediocre and can't run the score up on mediocre teams, let alone a team like Notre Dame. Their only hope in this game is that the defense plays the game of their lives and keeps it close so Pitt can somehow squeeze out a victory late, which was what they were doing before the UNC game. Problem is, those were mediocre teams they did it against. I'll be shocked if Pitt keeps this close. The UNC game showed that Pitt has a long way to go yet to be a top team. Maybe they will be in the future. We'll find out. As for now, they just aren't there yet.

This has probably been said for each of the Pitt-ND games of the last 8 years. These teams are 4-4 over that stretch.

Worst call in a big game in the history of NCAA sports. Flat out cheating by a ND homer official.
This is what you're up against when you play ND.

Pitt could definitely win, they usually play us really tough

But I'd be shocked if Pitt "blew out ND"......ND would have to play an absolutely terrible game to get blown out

I still see the Pitt playing make contact early, sorry.
Head turned, jumping straight up, clearly playing the ball all the way.......
Read the dude that made that call had a relative/nephew who played for ND, should have never been doing that game....
What did you see with the 2 #2's in the game at the same time on the missed FG?

Like I said, they get the same type of officiating that Duke basketball always gets. Last week, it was a blanket immunity against offensive holding penalties.

That and then the blatant two guys standing in front of the ref with the same jersey number on the missed field goal. We beat Notre Dame that day, plain and simple.

Sorry .... But you are full of it... For the love of Pete the former head honcho of NFL refs called it a horrible call..incidental "grazing " in mid air while playing the ball while looking at the ball is not PI... Nor will it ever be.

Temple got BY FAR the reffing advantage in our game

Which isn't shocking considering they were AAC refs for an AAC home game......really not fair

Our best Safety got kicked out of the game on a total BS call, and your CB's should have been called for PI about 5-10 more times. They grab and hold receivers on literally every singe play

The reality is, complaining about reffing is always a loser's argument though.....and not one I'm willing to make or really have any respect for at all

But... Until ND joins a conference their fans can always play the unfair advantage card...no?

Yeah, until it's the Domers getting screwed! LOL Like that ever happens.
Karma is a beech, though. Alabama kicking the snot out of ND in the Championship game was a foregone conclusion and poetic justice!

yes I thought that interference call was bad. You cannot relive the past it will not change anything. Heck miami beat duke but the call was terrible, And minor detail I believe when we have home games the opposing teams conference refs come along for the game . /i guarantee that the law of averages in any game comes into affect. I also thought in the Pitt game that the poster was talking about did not include the bad calls that favored Pitt. This is always the case when people whine

Come on, Temple's DB's held on a large number of pass plays, especially against Will Fuller. I saw DB's grabbing jerseys all game.

Fans of every team that loses a football game bitch about the officials and have since the early days of football.

I saw two guys wearing the same jersey, the same as you did.

What does conference affiliation have to do with it except for the fact that ND uses the other team's conference refs, since they have no "conference refs" of their own affilation?

Straw man much? I saw an Alabama team a year before that shut out LSU and not let them cross midfield while beating LSU by three touchdowns.

What does any of that have to do with this thread?

But... Until ND joins a conference their fans can always play the unfair advantage card...no?

No

Usually we have ACC refs or "neurtral refs" for road games......not refs from the home teams conference at their home venue

That was very unusual

I don't make that excuse no matter what

Players and coaches win/lose games. If you let the refs take the game from you, you lost it yourself anyways

And a 12-0 season with a loss in the NCG is still a sweet undefeated season and a NCG Berth

Get ready to hear the same complaint THIS week, folks. You're not supposed to come anywhere near them. At least no mere human should be able to defend a Notre Dame receiver, so they MUST be grabbing every play.

I guess that you didn't see any grabbing. I did, a lot. So, we just disagree. I thought Temple played very well and I wish them luck the rest of the way.

My overall point is that the losing team always bitches about the refs after the game.

maybe so but it misses the point....ND due to the fact that they have decided to not be a full conference member can always say it's biased... If they play an ACC team or not...

I'm not the one complaining about the refs being the reason for the outcome of the game

But if you watch that game as say:
"ND's OL got away with a lot of holds"

But think it's unfair to say:
"Temple's DBs got away with a lot of holds"

Then you're just very biased.............and very, very whiny

M

No

Normally the home team doesn't have their own refs officiating a game at their home stadium for ND games

Usually "neutral" refs from a conference completely unaffiliated with the game (like the Pac12, in this case) officiate

That way there is no appearance of bias

Basically, Temple has the most slanted reffing situation possible (their own refs officiating a game in their own home stadium against a team from outside the conference).......and they're still complaining about the reffing

It really shows you why blaming the refs is such a loser's excuse
