I don't think you can make a full evaluation of either of the backups without a week of practice that allows them to play with first teamers. Evaluating them when they are put in during a crushing defeat is meaningless.

Yarnell likely is checking out of this program, though. I don’t know how players submit their transfer requests, can’t imagine it’s still something as archaic as a fax, but whatever it is, he likely has a finger hovered over the button. Clearly better than Jurk and maybe also Veillieux but not getting a sniff? The only guy on the team who has QB’d a win vs a FBS team.

Veillieux probably would desperately like to check out too, but already had his immediate transfer, so unless he makes up some crazy thing like “Pitt fans are anti Canadian” and plead to the NCAA (might even work, since that body is wildly incompetent) or can make it to grad school by the summer, he is probably stuck for another year. At least, Duz likely gave him the same promise as Jurk, that he’ll start without a competition, and never ever be benched.

You want 75% of the players to leave, when it's a struggle to fill even a single recruiting class with D-1 athletes, period? Good luck with that. PN is not Prime, and Pittsburgh is not Boulder.

As a sophomore, he was average. I give him a C.

As a junior, he average again, I give him a C.

As a senior, he was above average. B to B-.

It took him 5 years. And that's why I think it might take him time with the Steelers. He has a long learning curve.

I'll give CV another chance but he looked as bad vs UNC as I've ever seen a Pitt QB look. And yea Kenny vs Clemson. That was against an NFL defense as a true sophomore

Villeaux looked much worse than Phil.....and he is the backup so its extemely possible that he is indeed worse than Phil. And Phil is an FCS or D2 level QB. And Yarnell is behind Villeaux so, again, its very possible that Yarnell is worse than Villeaux.

Pitt needs to clean house and get rid of most of their roster. They dont have much ACC level talent. They need to try to get lucky in the portal and sell early playing time since they wont have any players.

I agree with cleaning house but there's one MAJOR problem. NOBODY with any talent is coming here. I certainly wouldn't allow my son to play for cignetti. It's a career ending move.

Cignetti is gone. They cant get worse players than they already have. Theoretically if everyone left, everyone, they wouldn't be any worse. They would be losing low P5/G5 players and bring in the same level of players. The portal taketh, the portal giveth.
