6 of the 10 losses were to teams in the top 15. Virginia (4), UNC (7), Miami (11), Purdue (13), Louisville x 2 (14). I mean, obviously would have liked to have grabbed one or two of those, and they certainly had their chances, but none of those are bad losses either.

So the only 4 questionable losses that we had were NC State, Clemson, VA Tech, and GA Tech. 3 of those 4 losses were on the road. We all know how tough it is to win on the road in college basketball. Now I will certainly admit that the last two were very disappointing considering the stakes and what time of the season it is. However, many other quality teams suffered the same fate as we did when they ventured to VA Tech, Clemson, and GA Tech. Virginia lost to Va Tech, Ga Tech. Miami lost to Clemson, Va Tech. Notre Dame lost to GA Tech. Duke, Louisville lost to Clemson. It happens.

The only really horrid loss this year was losing at home to NC State by like 20.

Unfortunately, the only really good win was beating Duke, who is currently only ranked #19.

What does it all mean? Nothing really. It means we are a middle of the pack ACC team and a bubble team. But some perspective people, its not like we are out there losing to awful teams every game by double digits. We are a win @ Miami and a couple of made three pointers away from being 11-7 or 12-6 and a lock for the tourney and a high seed in the ACC. But yet some people want to blow the program up. I like to enjoy each season for what it is and really prefer it if we do not become a Boston College or a Wake Forest.

And if they scored more points in all their losses they would be undefeated ., we can play the "If" game all we want but the bottom line is this program has been in decline and is continuing to decline .. This particular team the last 2 years has really been disappointing .. I'm not one that thinks Dixon needs to go but I do think changes need to be made .. Not going to get any easier in the best league in the country

I think the last two seasons are about pretty much what we can expect going forward. Play a weak OCC, win most if not all. 9-9 or 10-8 in the league - NIT or NCAA with one or two wins making the difference each season.

The ACC is a very difficult league - The only bad team is BC, Wake if their coach is poor. - Most years Duke, UNC and Louis, will have more talent than us. We start off fighting for 4th place - We have no real advantage competing against ND, UVA, Syr, NC St and Miami. Buzz is an excellent coach and has Vir.Tech competitive. Hamilton can recruit at FSU.

To expect us to be better than we are might be expecting too much. Some coaches left the old Big East because it was too tough. Gregory is a good coach that may fail because the ACC is too tough. Brownell might be in the same boat. I hope Jamie does not join them.

Jamie Dixon is an excellent coach and great representative of the University. He will always manage to make us better than the talent level we possess. I just doubt he can do enough to return Pitt to the levels of success it had in Big East play.

remember wf and fsu handed those games to us. We are a middling ACC team 9-9

You could also look at it like we handed games to GA Tech, VA Tech, Louisville at home, Miami. I agree we were quite close to losing against Wake and FSU, but we were also quite close to winning a few too, so that argument doesn't work for me. We are what we are. 9-9

agreed. won a few we shouldn't, lost a few we shouldn't. Middle of the pack team.

I will see your "we have only 4 questionable losses" and raise you " we have played like a steaming pile of crap" the last two games. Given the lack of heart in this team.....I suspect Wednesday will be over by the first TV timeout of the second half.

Playing like crap down the stretch trump's any stats this teams body of work can dredge up.

They are NIT bound yet again..

I think having a guard who can make plays at the end of games and create is one of the biggest things in CBB... I've always been a Robinson fan and still am, but the reality is, when you have a bunch of non athletic players like PITT has around him, he has no chance to create anything.

In my opinion, there lies the reason this team can/may struggle to win close games at end.. when we need a clutch bucket, we just have nobody who can make that play and get to the rim.

Justice Kithcart seems like a perfect candidate for that role ;)

Didn't the ACC coaches rank us 10th per season? Maybe they were smarter than we all thought.

I believe we won those games because we had more points than they did when the clock struck 0.0.
Same principle holds when we have less points than our opponent when the clock strikes 0.0 they wo

I believe its customary in the USA after a sporting event is completed you've won the contest if you have more points than your adversary or if your adversary throws in the towel!

There were 6 games that could have gone either way.
FSU and WF - Wins
VT, GT, Miami, Ville - Losses

That isn't true at all. ND game could have gone to nd but we hung on. First cuse game and second cuse game we closed them out in the last 8 minutes or so. First gt game we held on at the end.

-Except when Pitino, Coach K, Roy Williams, and Jimmy B retire and there is a monumental shift in the league. No way those 4 schools all sustain current power losing 4 all time hall of fame coaches. Expect a dropoff, probably from all 4 of them. 3 of them are probably going to be done within 5 years max.

I disagree Steel,

There may be a modest dropoff in the schools you mentioned.....

but there will not be a monumental shift. The brand of all four of those schools will withstand coaching turnover.

JD is not an excellent coach---if he was, the program wouldn't be in the crap shape it's in
