I've seen people get stitches (each should have been a lot worse) from getting hit by them.Catching it is harder.
I know. I moved to WV my senior year and was disappointed that I couldn't continue to throw.Only about 20 states throw the javelin in high school.

That's medieval.Guy at Georgia got impaled with one the other day. Not thrown though, it was a complete accident. The javelin was in the ground, sticking up, and he fell backwards right on to it. They had to cut the javelin off and leave the piece still in him there until they could get him to the hospital where the piece that impaled him was removed.
Good point.That's medieval.
239 followed by 265 is impressive w/ a good knee, let alone a reconstructed one.I competed against Troy Burkholder in hs. He threw 239 @ states on a reconstructed knee. A few weeks later he threw 265 ,@ a Rutgers event. He was an athletic freak. The 1st meet he came back from surgery, he took 3 steps and hit 190+.
