Chris Peak, I also think that in every thread discussing an NFL Topic, you should delete every single post that discusses NFL players kneeling if kneeling isn't the SPECIFIC TOPIC or any person that says they stopped watching the NFL over the Kneeling WE KNOW, just delete every post about the kneeling.

Well, my response if i choose to not stick with the new board that has been discovered is go to a monthy subscription and bail out of the Lair from Jan to May.

Any recruiting news in those months can be filled by Twitter and a few others .

Then when things pick back up i rejoin.

Chris how about putting up a poll to see what the members would say about putting the Locker Room up again. You could have specific guidelines that all posters need to follow:

Never Racial or hateful posts. It's un American.
Express your views not personal attacks.
At all times be Civil.

Violators should be suspended for a day, week etc. with the post deleted.

It should be easy to monitor the threads, or field reports of violations.

That's a great idea. If those are the rules, we won't be subjected to all of those liberals posting. No racial or hateful posts. Love it.

Bwaaaa. Lol

I've always thought that the Locker Room should have been for people to talk about OT topics like music or restaurants. There should have been a separate political forum strictly for the political partisans to preach to or argue with each other.

But I know nothing about the cost or effort to run something like this. Maybe it's just not worth giving these people a free place to constantly carry on about politics.

This is actually the perfect thread for an off topic forum. If only there was one.

I will moderate it.

KanePA... Not Pleased!

This board. The basketball board. The two premium boards.
I don't know what you are basing this on. The BB board is a ghost town. The first 11 threads have a total of 212 replies. There are four threads that have replies in the last week. Four. The football board is not much better. Half of the active posts are OT. Take a look at the locker room activity again. That was your most active board. Multiple topics every day. You don't have that on these boards.

Yep.

No way can Pitt athletics keep up with every other topic in the world available on a day to day basis.
Its a ludicrous premise.

There's only so many threads or posts about whether 4.38 is the new recruits GPA or 40 time one can handle lol.

But as we discussed many times in the LR, companies and individuals are free to say/do what they want even if that may result in alienating some consumers and loss of revenue.

If enough people think its too dead in here from FEB to July or whenever and go to monthly as i plan to do for what i consider the relevant months for me, then it will affect the bottom line

As long as the mods arent getting a sweetener per subscriber it wont matter to anyone but corporate.
If they are,it may end up costing them also

You are a pretty arrogant dude. Seems odd to me for someone running a site to make money. You open yourself up to the kind of posts that made you respond this way due to the weak "excuse" for shutting down the board. .
Agree

That's the funniest post I've read in a long time.

Thanks.
That's pretty much true. They are right of center moderates in any other country in the world, there is no left wing party in the USA, except The Green Party that never wins anything anyway.

You guys are a treat.
You just don't know what right or left actually means! You're a typical American, like thinking Obama was a socialist! LOL! His views would represent the conservative parties in Europe or Canada, America has no viable leftist party. Maybe a few Bernie Sanders followers, like 10% of the Democratic Party might be bordering on conservative left in other countries, the Democratic Party's policy positions are considered CONSERVATIVE everywhere else but the USA.

Yeah, it was definitely more active than the basketball board by total new posts/threads daily. A lot of the same contributors, but a lot of posts from those in the Locker Room.

I honestly barely check the other boards anymore during the Spring and Summer, just given there is not a lot of substance worth discussing that hasnt already been addresses (i.e., Pitt script, uniform colors, why that 5.6 3 star will be better than random 4/5 star, that the 5.6 3 star will be worse than random 4/5 star, everyone is practicing well, etc). That will pick up here for the next couple months and early Winter, but then it will go back into a dead period (unless we go into another coaching search for some reason).

Will likely just drive clicks and advertisement views elsewhere for those same discussions and as others have mention, other Rivals sites have similar unmoderated OT boards. As much as people on the Locker Room did have diverging viewpoints and at times between certain posters went personal, it was actually pretty tame compared to some of the other boards in that way.

It was not the most active board, not by a long shot. And I’m not being arrogant; I was just curious what people thought the underlying motivation was.

Well, that’s what we’re trying to gauge from you. Your response is “you don’t want political talk” but there’s been political talk for at least 9 years and all of a sudden it’s not acceptable.

Essentially your answers have been “well it’s my board so this is what I’m going to do.” Which is your prerogative but don’t act shocked when people question that approach.

I’m not shocked; I knew there would be some blowback, since there are some posters who spent a lot of time there. And yes, there’s been political talk there for a long time, but it seems like the last year or so has taken a turn and become something different from civil discussion. This wasn’t a sudden decision; it was one I had been mulling for quite some time. Ultimately it came down to the amount of heavy-handed moderation that board - in its most recent incarnation - merited. Oftentimes when I went onto the board, there were things that needed to be deleted but they were so buried in the threads that I would end up killing whole threads.

Short of bringing in mods who were exclusively dedicated to watching that board, it seemed like the best solution, given the circumstances, was to eliminate the board itself. As always, I appreciate and invite comments and suggestions regarding board moderation.

I think most people agree it was a terrible decision. I say we overtake the trading post forum and turn it into the Locker Room board!! And watch that thread blow up bigger than the football and basketball board. Just kidding.

Ocasio-Cortez: EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING!!!!
No, you can pay for it all by having progressive taxation and cutting the waste, meaning cutting the military 50%! We spend more than the next 15 countries combined, let's spend the money on stuff we need and screw the military industrial complex.

Being a mod can’t be that tough Chris. Suggesting you need a mod for one board is complete nonsense and you know it. What should have been done was a warning that if the board didn’t turn more civil, it would be deleted. You gave the posters 0 warning and just deleted it. Of all the options you had, you picked the nuclear one.

This is true. Zero warning and zero options.

One could quibble about some of the terminology that you use, but certainly the mainstream of the Democratic Party would be a centrist party in Western Europe. Health care for all, which Republicans have called socialist, is accepted by virtually all European parties.
