Rebounds were 36 to 39--- looked much worse.

Shooting was 35% to 39%-- seemed much worse

Kene's misses and the 2 missed FTs all came in the same scoreless streak, but Brown was 0 for 1 in 18 minutes of play. Brown's poor play (bad foul especially-although once the refs looked at the replay they should have assessed a technical on the Ville player for flopping) resulted in Capel being forced to go 22minutes with the backup.

Toney was 1 for 7 in fifteen minutes, I don't think Capel should have benched him so much as he was doing a good job on Nwora. Toney may be in a slump, but since we compare him to Jaron Brown who couldn't shoot either, let him play D.

Credit has to be given to Coach Mack for stopping Trey and X, there are other ways to attack Pitt than zoning them to death.

We actually outrebounded them by a decent margin in the second half. The problem was that we turned it over at an alarming rate. We only had four or five turnovers in the first half and ended up with 17.

Over the last six minutes of the first half we were 7-9 from the field. Over the rest of the game we were 12-45, 26.7%. That's why it seemed much worse.

I actually agree on Toney. Nwora went off on his replacements, particularly in the second half. He's needed out there for his defense and rebounding, even when his shot is not falling.

All of these observations are true--but at the end of the day the biggest problem is having no bigs who are offensive threats and to a lesser degree bigs with the ability to adequately defend the other team's bigs who are an offensive threats.

Kene also had (I thought) a make able reverse layup that he passed up to get Sidy an open three. I thought his game fell apart after that.

Brown scored well in the first game versus Louisville. I guess we will never know if he could have scored some yesterday.

Agree with you about Toney. He held Nwora down for three straight halves. Nwora came out of his "slump" in the second half.

A lot like last years team, not just yesterday's game against Louisville, but several other games this year, this team goes through long periods of time during games that they go through scoring droughts, don't know why but it happened a lot last year and it's happening again this year. For what ever reason, turnovers, bad shots or just cold shooting. They seem to go through a scoring drought every game

In addition to all that was said above. They had a number of open looks from three that they passed up. Trey and X in particular seem to have lost confidence in their outside shot which makes other teens defensive effort easier. At some point you have to make some theees to keep the other team honest. So not only did our bigs not pose a threat not there was no outside shooting. As a result the offense was one dimensional and lead to turnovers as well

13 second half turnovers is impossible to overcome. No offensive continuity or rhythm for anyone on the court when you are giving the ball back 1 out of every three times.
