Kinda shows you the priorties of these schools and how football trumps all else in the south.

OSU
ND
Indiana
Wisconsin
Iowa
Northwestern
Army

Not sure if WVU counts as a northern school but culurally, they are southern.

that is because his perpetual stupidity and desire to make inane suppostitions just to listen to his keyboard click trumps all else...
There are some things that just can't be fixed. He's a prime example.

Oregon; Iowa State; Cincinnati; Ball State; Buffalo; Colorado - all in the south in SMF’s alternate reality.

My bad. Forgot the MAC was playing this season. Also forgot about Cincy and ISU since they play in southern leagues. I don't really consider Colorado or Oregon "northern" in a college football sense. Geographically, they are north, but they are more "west" than "north."

Nor Midwest nor mid-Atlantic. Culturally, all Southern. Including northern panhandle.
WV is Appalachian to it's core. A subgroup of the South, but vastly different from SEC country, which is actually why the state exists. People always want to divide the US into a handful of big regions. It doesn't work. Look at the so called Midwest. The Great Lakes cities fit very nicely together, but what the hell do they have in common with Cincy, or St Louis? Not much.

Pitt should of went, I hope it's not because of the A-hole governor and THAT MAN :)

As a selfish fan, I would have liked to watch another Pitt game but I agree with their decision. 3 COVID tests/week, no social interaction around the holidays. I get it. And for what? 1 extra game which wouldn't have been a normal bowl experience anyway?

Why? Because I'm JUST LIKE those RED NECK HILLBILLIES from the SOUTH! YEEEEEEEE-HAAAA! I WANT MY FOOTBALL, don't care about anything you just said!

And actually the NORTHERN college football attitude sucks, too bad we don't value being good at football like BAMA or Clemson.

I don’t consider Oregon or Colorado to be ”northern” teams, either. But, they are not “southern” teams, where football trumps all, as you asserted.

Right but Oregon won the P12 so it makes sense they wouldn't opt out.

I wonder what the opt-out rate was for northern vs southern teams. I'm surprised all those Sun Belt/CUSA teams decided to bowl.

WVU is neither north or south. They are a mason dixon line one off

WV and KY had a unique place in the Civil War. Basically anti-slave/black and anti-slave owner alike. And those politics sort of persisted especially in WV. Their electoral history is basically that of the white working class as well: FDR four times, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Carter then Reagan, Clinton then Bush and Trump.

There were definitely still some blue counties in deep south WV (and a few in Eastern Kentucky) where miners basically fought wars for their rights until recently, but in the last 5-10 years even those started to vote differently.

Obviously geographical categorization is more than voting patterns as an expression of ideology or identity, just raising it as one factor.

So is "Country Roads" about Virginia or West Virginia?

Wv residents are so screwed up and think the song is about them lmao. They want to be relevant nationally but can't.

Yeah I saw that and way too young. God Bless him, he seemed like a great guy. You and he coached with George? Sorry to hear about your loss down there. With it being a small community makes it even more difficult.

Yeah I'm so sorry to hear about this. Especially around the holidays is even tougher. Keep the faith pizza.
