I have 93.7 as a preset on my radio in my truck. 2-3x a week when I start the vehicle up, the preset will automatically change to 100.1. I know both are KDKA radio.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Not me. That’s odd.

If 100.1 is also carrying The FAN (I'm sure each time your car starts, the station is in the midst of endless commercials), then it would appear your radio is programmed to switch from a standard FM signal to an HD radio signal of the same stream. I'm near positive that 100.1 is KDKA's HD output.

I think you nailed it. I do have the HD setting on. Now it makes sense. Thanks.

When "free" means 20 minutes of commercials every hour, it's not really free.
Best way to listen to local sports talk, which 93.7 does modestly well at times, is to not listen live via the app. You can listen to an entire show commercial free. Or because they index the segments, you can only listen to the ones that interest you.

Every once in a great while when I am in the car flipping through the stations I land on 93.7, because it's a preset, and I listen for a few minutes. But a few minutes is all it ever takes for me to remember why I haven't listened to sports talk radio in a long, long time.

It has to be when there’s actual stuff going on for me. Busy sports days.

I do enjoy the Sirius XM FC though most of the time. But I just canceled XM so I have a bit of a void now during AM drive. And Dorin and Crowley are borderline unlistenable.

Because why pay for B.S., get the same B.S. free....I know, I know the cool kids have Sirius...
It costs less than $0.50 cents a day.. less than pocket change. Gets a zillion channels. Sound quality is awesome. Cheap for quality entertainment.

I'm not in a vehicle long enough to justify purchasing Sirius. I used to have it when my commute was an hour to work. My commute to work is 5-6 minutes tops.
I bought a lifetime subscription 15 years ago for like $150
No longer have to worry about out transferring since the app and unlimited cellular became a thing

That’s pretty cool. I’d do that if they had it. It’s pretty much the principle of it for me now. There were only two stations I generally listened to and because I subscribe to Apple Music and Spotify, and still even listen to Pandora because my algorithms are set there, Sirius just became overkill for the price. On top of it I subscribe to every streaming service imaginable on tv.

I’ll have to look into it and see if they are running any deals to entice me. It’s nice to have but I have plenty of other services that work for me. A one time lifetime subscription would work for me but if they had it, it wouldn’t still be $150 that’s for sure.

I mean - wife and I were early adaptors in the early days before the merger (was only Sirius then )
Mostly for Stern- who is still the best interviewer out there!

We have Apple Music as well , pretty great for finding best of mixes of artists for my own playlists

Hearing other team’s radio broadcast made it pretty clear how out of his depth Hillgrove was and how terrible the Pitt basketball broadcast team was .

The lifetime subscription is going away is what I was told.

I did that about 20 years ago also. At the time, I never realized the deal I got. The gift that keeps on giving.

That lifetime deal, was a deal. I get an invoice every spring for $29 a month, and do the drill. Call in and ask for the special deal. Paid under $150 for this year.
Have kids in Cinci, Baltimore, and Charlotte. Get our moneys worth. College sports talk is awesome. Well worth th $12 I pay a month. Show Pony and Neuheisel 9-12 am. Great convo’s.
Plus you get Deep cuts from the 60’s and 70’s, and garage band. My wheelhouse.

Cuts off in the tunnels though. I only listen to local sports to hear angry yinzer nation after losses. Absolutely entertaining hearing angry and delusional steeler fans.

Hmmm, my Sirius/XM doesn't cut off in the tunnels. Maybe it depends on the tunnels I'm driving through. But I haven't run into a tunnel lately where I lose coverage.

I lose it all the time in the Squirrel Hill tunnel, but often when I go through the Fort Pitt tunnel (which isn't very often) I don't lose the signal.

I do lose a signal when traveling north on 77 in Va and Wva, and it’s for only a minute, but not a deterrent. I just can’t listen to FM radio.
Moving back to Pa. Would consider listening to DVE in the AM.

I haven't listened to ground based AM or FM radio in years, except when I listen to a few minutes of post Pitt football or basketball games or catch an away game for a few minutes. Other than that, I have no idea who or what's around nowadays.

DVE is a good listen for a morning show.

The Fan (sorry Dorin) Morning Show is a rough listen.

Starkeys show with Pomp from 10-2 is great during steeler season. Nothing better to listen to than yinzer radio after steeler losses. And again, by downloading the app and not listening live, you get no commercials.

You start adding up all those $0.50 per day charges for stuff and it starts adding up. Now, as if folks don't waste enough money they pay someone else to manage all their forgotten subscriptions...problem with XM channels is they repeat the same stack of 75-80 songs from whatever genre you click on for weeks and weeks.
