OT: Braxton Miller to WR/H-back

I thought he was a good QB in terms of arm strength and mechanics. Maybe he sees himself as this type a player in the NFL and so switching to the H Back position will give him good experience for the future. Plus it gets him on the field this year. Only one of those three QB's can get the starting nod.

Perhaps scouts from the NFL have suggested this would be his best natural position. Pryor is a good example and ironically a buckeye as well

Miller is making the right choice. It's all about the system in an Urban Meyer offense and even though the QB will be a success in the offense he is only a product of the offense. A good QB recruit looking for a career in the NFL would be foolish to go to OSU. He will get notoriety and a chance to win the Heisman and a national championship under Meyer but he will not be prepared for the NFL.

Look at Meyer's record with QB's. Only Alex Smith amounted to anything in the NFL and he was only an average QB. The same thing will happen with the QB's at OSU now. They will have nice college careers and then they will be done. At least Miller now has a chance to make it at the next level.

He will be a very dangerous HB for Urban's offense. The Buckeyes will have two people (at least) on the O that are run/pass threats on almost every down.

I'd argue there are very few college systems these days that prepare a college QB for an NFL offense. Mike and Mike were interviewing Steve Spurrier about this earlier in the week and the old ball coach's comment was that it's the college coach's job to win games at the college level, not prepare his QB to be NFL ready. They aren't being paid for how well they prepare a kid for the next level.

Off the top of my head, maybe Florida St, Alabama, USC, Wisconsin, MSU, soon to be Michigan - those schools run NFL type offenses. Not many others do. If a kid has an NFL skill set, it doesn't matter what system he plays in during college. It might take him longer to adjust, but if he's got it between the ears he can be successful. OSU may not run an NFL offense, but if Cardale Jones starts this year and is anything like he was last year, I don't think the OSU offense is going to hurt his draft stock.

This is pretty odd and speaks to the recruiting ability of Urban Meyer. This guy is a beast the college football world has never seen. He convinced a kid who would have been the starting QB at all but maybe 3 or 4 schools to come back and win the job, knowing full well he wasnt going to play him over JT or Cardale. Then he convinces a 2nd Round NFL draft pick to give up a few million to come back and sit on the bench for free.

Urban's got to be careful. Even if hes doing nothing wrong, this is the kinda stuff that raises major red flags.

As for Braxton, people will hail this as a great move for him but hes never played WR and will be competing with 5 star recruits. If he can earn PT at that position at OSU, its likely he could have done the same in the NFL after QBing Oregon or FSU to the Final Four.
