Yeah...the blue kind. I found this great crab source in Northern Maryland that just operates on Fridays/Saturdays and got a half bushel of the biggest, freshest, bestest Maryland Blue Crabs today.

I found them on the internet. I don't want my secret out. And I am lucky enough that my sales territory takes me over that area occasionally. So last night I stayed in Frederick I picked up fresh live crabs, head on shrimp, oysters for a feast.

When I returned with them my family and friends said "holy hell, what are we going to do with all of this", and I remarked I wasn't making a trip like this for a dozen crabs. Though, it is only 3 1/2 hours from my house.

The crabs were unbelievable, brought me back to my youth, the shrimp fantastic, so jealous of yinz who live near the shore enough to have this convenience. But my god, this is the time to get crabs. Big, full, abundant, lively, September is the peak month.

The only drawback is my hands smell like....well..................

Lived in Frederick for 2 years, cool town. Just came back from stone harbor nj, saw them selling crabs driving in. Should have taken em up on it.

Love soft shell. But there is something about picking the hard shells apart with friends, family and beer.
some laid back crab houses on the waterfront is what I like. Not the uppity seafood place but the bucket of crabs, pitcher of beer, shells everywhere kind of place. Where they give you a roll of paper towels instead of linens..

LOL...that was my house last night. Well except if "the waterfront" means the local stream.
