For anyone who wants to chat non-Pitt WVB tournament matches.

Early thoughts
WMU's Libero is a beast and if the volleyball transfer portal starts to be treated like football or basketball she is going to get poached this offseason by one of the blue bloods because she is everywhere on the court.
Not super impressed by GT's performance so far. Lost their second set to South Alabama.

Women’s VB transfer portal makes football and basketball look like child’s play.

Penn State getting all they can handle from Yale right now. Yale took set 2, started out up 7-0 in set 3 and was tied at 22 but PSU pulled out the win. Hopefully Yale can bounce back and take set 4

Louisville may be in for a surprise by the sounds of it. WMU came in with a very respectable RPI....35. I'll be multi tasking tomorrow night....watching the Panthers at the Pete and following the score of the Louisville-WMU game on my phone. In terms of Andelyn Simkins....their libero...here are some stats

  1. Served as WMU’s libero and was one of three Broncos to start all 30 matches and appear in all 115 sets
  2. Ranked sixth in the MAC and 39th nationally with 536 digs, and was fifth in the MAC and 45th nationally at 4.66 digs/set
  3. In conference play, was third in the league with 361 digs and fourth in digs/set at 5.08
  4. Recorded double-digit digs in 28 of WMU’s 30 matches
  5. Earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in the MAC
  6. 1st team all MAC

Nice to see unseeded Miami beat 8 seed UNI 3-1. And now they get Wisconsin.

I saw a lot of comments online last night that seemed to suggest that dropping a set was some sort of a sign of weakness. The only team that was in that situation that seemed to struggle for a while was Penn State. Honestly, if they didn't block as well as they did or if they faced someone that ran with a little more tempo, they probably would have lost that game.

Skylar Fields, USC's best player, just limped off the court after the second point of the USC/UMBC match. Something to watch as Pitt would play the winner of that game tomorrow if we win today.

Fields is back in but from my untrained eye doesn't look 100% comfortable. However, UMBC looks pretty bad. Which aligns with the fact that Pitt swept them handily earlier this year...without Fairbanks playing. USC will likely win this easily, up 13-9 in the first set
