I guess Murray's groin wasn't healed? Count me as the first to say I was dead wrong for wondering why the Pen's didn't move Fleury.

-Im a die-hard Pens fan. And I wanted him traded badly to get some value for him while we could after last season and I was the biggest Murray supporter ever going into last year and without pumping my chest, I told everyone we were going all the way last year with him in net. But Flower played almost lights out game 1. I literally do not know what to expect out of him moving forward, but he put the skates on Game 1. With Letang out, its very possible we could need both goaltenders strengths and weaknesses to repeat this year.
-BTW, Phil Kessel is starting to become my favorite player. Bad-Ass Attitude to win, my style.
The pens last year would have won the cup with Zatkoff in goal...and in fact won a game with him. They played a very Tortarella style game like the Rangers used to be packing it in and blocking every shot possible. Murray was positionally sound, but didn't really steal any games....and that's the thing with Murray, he's not athletic enough nor does he have the glove hand to steal any games for a team. Fleury over his time was hung out to dry by the team and stole games.....there's a reason Jarry was/is considered the better goalie prospect by some penguins scouts...he's more like Fleury.

murray stole a game against washington, he stopped about 47 of 49 shots while the pens had less than 30 shots on net, no way they win that series with beach ball fleury in net and they would've lost to tampa too if he played game 6 and 7
murray doesn't have to be athletic, he is so fundamentally sound he makes it look easy while fluery makes a routine save look like it was difficult

Funny how Pens won their 2 cups during seasons when they change coaches and their approach to how they play defensively....both when Bylsma won and when Sullivan won. If they continue to play this way, they'll win again with either Fleury or Murray in net this year.

datsyuk didn't play until game 5, he was at least a top 4 player in the league at the time
lidstrom literally had his balls knocked into his stomach in the west final, he's an all timer

-Not to bring another argument to the the table but, Crosby is a better defender then Lemieux. Rewatched game 1 again against the Jackets, Crosby is the best defensive center in the league without question and right up with the best defensive forward all time. His defense is insane good.
Last year's run had more to do with the defense that was played in front of Murray as anything else.
Fleury didn't have that luxury in the first period Wednesday night and the Pens went to the locker room tied 0-0. I'd say that was a pretty valuable contribution.

I think the fact that Fleury didn't play 60 games this year has made a difference, he's fresher and more focused.
He looked pretty sharp tonight. Especially on the break away stop.

below 900 save percentage in the loss against a bad montreal team in 2010
gave up a 3 - 1 series lead against tampa in 2011
let in countless beach balls against philly in 2012, that series is laughed at by hockey fans across the world
2013 almost blew the series to a bad islanders team only to be replaced by tomas vokoun and he played great

he has never even been close to being an elite goaltender in this league which is sad considering he was the number 1 overall pick in maybe the deepest draft ever, just look at the numbers, i can name 20 guys in that draft that would've been better picks

crosby and malkin have the most playoff points since the lockout and the best playoff PPG, lets not pretend they disappear in the playoffs, no they can't score every game and yes they have had legit injuries and when they can't be at their best an "elite" goalie" like fleury should play better than just average at best, the only time he did it was 8 years ago in game 6 and 7 so how long are his fanboys going to reference 8 years ago which is a lifetime in sports?
