OT - Fleury to start Game #1 of the Playoffs tonight ......

Matt Murray is going to be a star, if he isn't one already.

But....MAF made the greatest save in the history of the franchise, down 3-2 to the Wings, he allowed 2 goals in 2 games, he stoned the Caps in Game 7 in 2009, he stoned the Jackets and Caps all series and shut out the Caps in Game 7 this year. He is one of the winningest goalies of all time. His resume is fantastic.

So it is now time to move on.

Right.
Pens are here because of having both.
That's a good thing

Yep. An unbelievable advantage no other team in the league would have had if it lost its "#1" goalie before the playoffs started. Unfortunately, it is also a Cap league, and in the interest of rewarding loyalty, MAF will be moved this offseason so he can have a net to call his own.

Will you be a man and admit the Pens wouldn't be in the final season were it not for Fleury's performance through the entirety of the playoffs?

already said he was the mvp up until then, is that "man enough" for you?

and who is to say they wouldn't have won with murray, the proven better goalie? fleury could've been the reason they lost to ottawa

now will you be a man and admit murray is better? coach sully agrees with me

How have you been vindicated? Everyone knew Murray would play when he was healthy and MAF lost a game. It wasn't a surprise.

Murray won't make the Italian American Happ of Fame either, so put him behind Tommy B, too.

he was proven to be overrated by yinzers, you guys want to put him in the hall of fame when he can't even maintain his job so yes i am vindicated

I never once said he should be in the Hall of Fame. It isn't his job on the Penguins anymore. You quoted an Olympic medal for Barrasso that wasn't "his job". You are an inconsistent and ill informed dweeb, who has difficulty following discussion.

I've never argued that Fleury was better than Murray. I've argued that your position is a bad hot take. You should ease up on watching guys like Cowherd if you think that's how sports should be discussed.

Stick to the NBA its obvious that your area of expertise of the NHL/PENS ( a real sport compared to the NBA) is limited or non existent!

Unfortunately the "look at me" mentality has permeated into sports journalism. It is one thing to be provocative it is another to be annoying like the OP

Yep. But it is not a slam at MAF to marvel and say how good Murray is. We have been blessed I guess to use a term the kids are fond of using.
The company Murray is keeping this early in his career is impressive.

The company Fleury is keeping so far in his career is impressive.

I'm a huge fleury fan and was thrilled with his throw back playoffs . Once the change was made, it was Murray's job to lose again.
To be sure, Fleury didn't lose the job... the entire roster was playing poorly and all but the wrap around was on his teammates.

Sullivan, as usual, pushed the right buttons to refocus the team.

Couldn't agree more. The penguins have so many adavantages over most other teams and the biggest is their two goalies. If they win the cup it will be fleury with 9 wins and murray 7 most likely. I loved watching fleury and what he did these playoffs, I also loved Murray's goaltending clinic on Wednesday night. It's a shame fleury will be gone next season most likely because I think with both of them and the roster they have to surround their goalie, they'd be cup favorites every year.

The fleury/murray combo is absolute money. Fleury carried the workload all last season, Murray had a great playoff run. This year, some split time, mostly Murray, then fleury was great in the playoffs, now back to murray and he's been fabulous also. I've been saying all year, you need two good goalies to win the cup. The penguins are the model of that. One guy goes on a tear for x amount of games, if he has a bad game or if the team is slumping, insert other goalie and start another tear. I mean the situation so far has really been perfect.
