Last night's game was very entertaining. Awesome ceremony. Good paced hockey.

I know there are Flyer fans on here, and other teams fans, but you should all thank the Penguins or be thankful that they won the Cup. It is a copycat league and now the league is going for fast paced, up and down hockey. Not that NJ Devil suck the life out of hockey or anything coached by John Torterella.

With all of the great young talent coming into the league, it is good to get away from the trapping and clutch and grab.

I think it's a little too soon for posts like this. If Pittsburgh repeats this year then I will agree.

However, even until last year the belief – particularly in the Western Conference – was that you needed to be a big, physical, station-to-station, cycling type of team to win the cup.

The Penguins disproved that notion once and for all last year but the truth is the game has been trending in that direction for a few years now.

Tampa Bay plays the same way as Pittsburgh and they played in the cup final the year before.

The year before that, the Rangers, another quick team, played in the cup final.

Also, Chicago is more of a puck possession type team than they are a heavy, banging type of team (like Los Angeles, Anaheim, Boston, etc.).

The funny part was that San Jose won the West because they were faster than everyone else in that conference.

Then, they played Pittsburgh in the final and they had their doors blown off by the Penguins. I think that surprised everyone – even the Penguins themselves.

I suspected that we had the quicker team but I did not expect the advantage to be quite so pronounced.

Also, while we were talking hockey – which I love, thank you – all of the conversation is about Pittsburgh, Tampa, and Washington in the East.

I am telling you, if they can stay healthy the Florida Panthers are going to be a force to be reckoned with before the season is over.

The team has a lot of pieces in place and could easily win the Stanley Cup as early as this year. I would definitely put them in that upper echelon of Eastern Conference teams. They are not getting enough attention.
