OT: Pens advance....

Had to think they were doomed once they were taken to OT. Not good history with game 7 home OT games. Nice to eradicate that monkey.

It had been frustrating that they had put so many chances directly into Anderson's gut. Ironic that the winning shot looked like he partially flubbed it and caused it to flutter. That's what it takes in these marathons sometimes!

Would have dug seeing Sheary win it because that dude had some kind of game. Nice for the old war horse to be the hero though.

Lastly, all good and decent fans (is that possible?) owe the Pens a debt for dispatching the New Devils. Would have buried the NHL back into the Dark Ages if Ottawa somehow won the Cup with that system. Bad enough they got that far.

Quite a run, hope they can muster 4 more somehow! Crazy that nobody has been able to repeat in nearly 20 years.

Crosby played a great game overall.
Sheary had a huge bounce back game. He played really well overall.
Schultz was a big addition back to the lineup. Besides the obvious offense he brings, I think him and Cole make a really good pairing on defensive end of the ice.
Guentzel, Malkin, and Kessel were all really good and had a number of chances as well.

Overall, it was a really good game played by the Pens. For the most part, they dominated this series.

Kudos to Anderson, he was spectacular. If Anderson doesn't play lights out this series is won 4 games to 1. Karlesson is one hell of a player as well. Those 2 kept Ottawa in this series and gave them a real chance to advance.

I was not too optimistic when the Sens scored the last goal and it went to OT. The two missed Kessel goals made me think we were doomed to lose on a turnover or cheap goal. Was emotionally exhausted by the time Kunitz hit the game winner. Not sure what will be left for the Preds but I sure as hell hope we have Hornqvist back. Having Schultz back may have been the difference last night. I normally think Matta gets too much crap but he almost cost us the game about 3-4 times.

I hate to say this.......but I was so, so, so, so much more confident with Matt Murray in the net during the OT than MAF. Just he is so calm...so razor sharp focused.

I've been a fleury hater for a long time, but I will give him credit for getting us to this point, but we don't win this series with MAF in net..

Matta had a weird game. He was great in period 1. Awful in 2nd and 3rd and I thought he was pretty good in OT.

Schultz being back is huge. He also helps elevate Cole's game.

Only a casual Pens fan, but after watching some of these games I have to conclude that Sidney Crosby is, by far, the hardest playing athlete in Pittsburgh. Just amazing the way he continues to work all-out, especially while getting grabbed and slashed and mugged....

Ollie Matta had a scary shaky game - fortunate it didn't cost the Pens a cheap goal...

Go Pitt.

Totally agree... I am a Fleury fan but there is no way I feel more confident with him in net at this point. Murray is simply the better goalie at this point.

In saying that, Fleury is a huge part of this post season and if they go on to win the cup he will certainly have played a huge role in this Cup Run.

Winning any of these games can't happen without these players scrapping and clawing and never giving up. No doubt. They all believed in each other.

But this shows once again that when you have a great coach, you can win consistently and sometimes when many wouldn't expect you to win. Sully is by far the best coach in the city and one of the 2 or 3 best coaches in the NHL. He could take a group of average players and make them win in the playoffs. He could probably take the worst team in the NHL right now and get them in the playoffs and win. He's that good.

I am a huge Sullivan fan as well. No question this guy is a fantastic coach. Really love how he manages the game, controls the players, etc... He is just a great coach.

The Predators will be a tall task for the Pens with all of the lingering injuries they carry forward. I don't know too much about Nashville aside from them being a speedy team with offensive-minded dmen. Matchup sounds tough from a defensive standpoint but it also sounds like we'll see more open ice and better scoring chances (not that we didn't see a ton in the last three games against Ottawa). I like the Pens if these games become shootouts. I think Rinne will be good but I think Murray will be better. Going to come down to the ability of our d to stay healthy and play solid. I like the Pens in 6.

Oh I know. And I am not a hater. But Mike Sullivan made a switch for a reason. And MAF got us through those first 2 rounds. I hope if we win the cup, he can take pride in this and enjoy the moment this year.

Preds got hot at right time. They were very average team during regular season. They barely made the playoffs and took off from there.

Pens are the better team and will be favored, but that doesn't mean they will win or it will be easy.

Would be great to get Hornquivst back and to keep Schultz in the lineup. That will go a long way towards winning this series.

Preds have some injury issues themselves. Fisher missed last game they played although I assume he will play with the rest they have got but Johnassen is out for playoffs and he was their best offensive player.

This such a stupid strategy. Pens fans will be there, perhaps paying a bit more on the open market, but it's not like the Predators mangement can stop reselling. Sheesh.

The whole idea that they can cancel orders already placed seems very wrong to me. I believe Tampa pulled the same stunt last year and the year they were in the finals. I don't think this is a tactic you would see in a real hockey city.

Murray couldn't carry Rinne's jock strap in his goalie glove. PR may win the Conn Smythe even if Nash loses series. Pens in 7....I hope.

Huh? Murray's numbers are pretty spectacular. Not sure what you are talking about.

Yeah and Rinne's playoff numbers before this season have been more average. Real chance Murray could end up being the better goalie this series. I don't think Rinne will suck at all but I do think the Pens will put a few crooked numbers on him.
