I think the story is that the dude who played Ollie was actually a pretty good basketball player, and he had to "dumb down" his game for the movie to make it look like he stunk.

The intent of this thread was never "best actor", so those saying "anything Jack Nicholson" etc.....that's not the point. It is a specific role, maybe not the biggest role, but just one that the actor fit that role that it is hard to see someone else playing it. Sometimes we focus on the actor too much and the character they play is secondary to the role, but I am talking about these specific character/actor marriages.

I'll go another from the same era. James Spader in Pretty in Pink as the rich snooty kid.

Saw this on Twitter. What actor was perfectly cast in the role they played? I will start with what immediately comes obvious to me. Any of yinz my age or cognizant of all of this guys issues in the 80's, you would completely understand.

Freddie Highmore who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy on the ABC show...The Good Doctor. He does a tremendous job of playing the role. The show is one of my favorites on the air right now.

As an old timer (77) I think the award goes to Clint Eastwood in the Good, Bad, and the Ugly". or maybe Eli Wallach in the same movie.
