Years ago Colin cowherd had an hour long radio segment on why Lamar Odom was the James Spader of the nba. A ton of 80s references. The intent of this thread was never "best actor", so those saying "anything Jack Nicholson" etc.....that's not the point. It is a specific role, maybe not the biggest role, but just one that the actor fit that role that it is hard to see someone else playing it. Sometimes we focus on the actor too much and the character they play is secondary to the role, but I am talking about these specific character/actor marriages.
I'll go another from the same era. James Spader in Pretty in Pink as the rich snooty kid.
Which made me think of another perfectly cast actor: Fred Gwynne in 'The Munsters'.Marisa Tomei in 'My Cousin Vinnie'
Oh man, that would have been great.Years ago Colin cowherd had an hour long radio segment on why Lamar Odom was the James Spader of the nba. A ton of 80s references.
it was the weirdest and most humorous analogy I’ve heard. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Freddie Highmore who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy on the ABC show...The Good Doctor. He does a tremendous job of playing the role. The show is one of my favorites on the air right now.Saw this on Twitter. What actor was perfectly cast in the role they played? I will start with what immediately comes obvious to me. Any of yinz my age or cognizant of all of this guys issues in the 80's, you would completely understand.
Robert Downey Jr in Less Than Zero. Art Imitating Life here.

As an old timer (77) I think the award goes to Clint Eastwood in the Good, Bad, and the Ugly". or maybe Eli Wallach in the same movie.
By the way, it's on Netflix this month.
