OT PIRATES

Does not compute... Still in the "safe space" folks warned me to retreat to before the Clemson game in Death Valley. Did Pitt win?

Any defenders left ? If so, Nutting enjoys you useful fools

I walked the plank after that Liriano trade.

The Cutch talk is inane... didnt he learn last year from Neil Walker? We got nothing for Walker, nothing! Now they are going to trade Cutch on the low in the off-season?

Teams get desperate in July, Desperation causes so lopsided trades (see Liriano), how about we trade him then? I dont think the guy will have a worst year this year, so his stock will be up, and Austin Meadows will have more seasoning and get past the super 2

Ya love the pirates but hate the chatter.

Trading cutch silly. Never get less he will rebound and is relatively cheap.

Harrison trade don't mind.

They are talking about dealing watson? Crazy.

2017 was to be the year?

Morton and volquez were two good fits both went cheap and we didn't flex. SRod went cheap to Atlanta.

We don't seem to be willing to spend anything, let alone what we need to do to get quality starting pitching. Very disappointing

rumors of some 18 year old big time prospect and gio something or other, lefty pitcher on the wrong side of 30.. we could do worse..

Crappy that this is how McCutchen is getting the shaft in this. but if the Pirates could get a haul for him you have to do it. Let Bell play the outfield and hope that he lives up to his potential. Looks like after this move the Pirates "Financial Flexibility" will be at an all time high.

Very few of course so good point. I also hear the dodgers are making a push with a top pitcher (prospect), and 1B prospect and major league pitcher

De Leon is the pitcher, very good. Along with Alex Verdugo or Bellinger... would be a great hull as well. Either way, this or the Nationals 2 players, each with one MLB guy coming back would be a good trade on paper.

I cant stand how we threw in 2 of our top 5 last year in the Liriano trade. We could have used one of those chips to add here to get better players back

McGuire and Ramirez were not top 5 prospects however they were top 10. I agree that was a terrible trade. If the pirates were to land Ross, Lopez, or Robles it would be a decent return for a guy who is 30 coming of a disappointing year. De Leon interests me along with Bellinger

I agree, and he increased strikeouts, decreased walks, decrease steals, fielding is slipping... not to say he wont turn things around, but not a bad time to trade if we can maximize return.

One of the worst ownership groups in pro sports. Have to pay to play competitive ball in MLB, and they certainly don't pay.

Jose De Leon? History would repeat itself! 30-some-odd years ago, the Pirates had a promising young pitcher named . . . Jose De Leon! That earlier JDL was homegrown, up through their own farm system, but they ruined him. Given that this IS the Pirates, I wouldn't expect JDL 2.0 to work out any better.

Andrew McCutchen is one of the best players in baseball, is only 30 and is only owed $28 million over the next two seasons and some so called fans want to trade him for prospects? Bob Nutting loves fans like you.

Most of us aren't advocating trading him for prospects. The whole premise of trading him is for an MLB ready starter. I'm sure most of us would be pissed myself included, if he was traded for prospects.

People will still go, they see eating $5 hot dogs with their kids as spending quality time with them on a Sunday. They want fireworks, bobbleheads etc.

Baseball died in Pittsburgh in 1993. Wake me up when Nutting sells.

And to dump salaries in the future, Nutting will trade those prospects, bet my life

Pirates fans should never believe a word that comes out of Nutting's mouth. Had a professional dealing with him once. The man can look you square in the eye and tell you a bald-faced lie without blinking. So when he tells fans the Pirates are trying to build a winner, you can take that to mean he is trying to build his bank account.

To me, if he isn't willing to move to right field, you have to trade him. His defense is absolutely atrocious.

They have to trade him sometime between now and July 2018, otherwise, they'll lose him for nothing. Signing him long term would be a huge mistake. Signing players to long deals after 30 is usually a bad deal for the team.

If you're going to get good value for him now, you trade him. Even if that's for prospects.

This is the fan Nutting loves. Collect prospects, so Nutting can sell them off to dump more salaries. Rinse and repeat

Last season he wasn't, and he wasn't even particularly close to one. The question is if that was a one year aberration or if that is the new normal. In any event the Pirates ought to be holding out for an offer that assumes it was an aberration.

Why can't the Pirates let him play out his contract, hopefully get two great seasons and then let him sign elsewhere? Surely those two seasons would be worth more than four months of Jon Niese!

Some of you Pirate fans have been successfully brainwashed by the Pirate brain trust. Stick with us. We'll really be good again some day. We're building for 2035

Agree his defense was awful... last season. I had more of a problem watching him attempt to catch a fly ball than hitting, batters go through slumps and have down years.

Marte needs to be the centerfielder, although I think if Cutch will come around and move to right you DO NOT trade him. 2017 (the year we're supposed to have "financial flexibility" to build a winner) could quickly turn into a dark looking season.
