OT Pro Bowl

Great new format. Flag football and skills competition . Do they go to Dairy Queen after?

This was classic.

I guess they should just name the superlatives and not even play the game. In the past it was actually something to be given a flight to Hawaii for free, now these guys make so much money, it probably is a lower style of living for them for the week.

Question: when was the last time you actually watched the Pro Bowl? All Star games are typically some of the worst demonstration of the sport by those who play it best. That goes for NBA and NHL as well. The MLB All Star game is the only all star game that is even close to enjoyable to watch.

i think the NFL is getting this right. The only thing interesting about the NHL and NBA all-star games are the skills competitions. Much better than the games themselves. Even baseball is getting that way too. I'd like to see the NFL do something like the old ABC Sports Superstars series. And while I'm on the subject, they need to bring back Battle of the Network stars.

Remember when Robert Edwards blew out his knee playing flag football at a pro bowl like 25 years ago?
Everyday, regular people doing their usual activities of daily living get hurt and spme of them "blow out their knees". It is called LIFE. If these NFL players are worried about injury, then they shouldn't go to the Pro Bowl. It really is that simple.

dont even get me started with battle of the network stars. such incredible memories. i could talk about this forever..

Who honestly cares about the quality of actual football at the Pro Bowl? It's existence has long been an excuse for marketing departments to take customers to Hawaii before it moved to Orlando for some awful reason.

The reason being the Disney organization

we mock these games (deservedly so) and now we will mark these silly skills competitions (deservedly so). i mean am i crazy but do i remember hockey players in vegas shooting pucks into a fountain in front of a casino last year? lol, i am not sure but i swear they were shooting pucks onto platforms in front of a vegas casino..

anyways, my point is, both deserve ridicule but what is the solution? You cant play a live game, in football or hockey. no one will hit anyone nor do i blame them. So what ideas do you guys have? I dont have any outside of cancelling them all together but who wins there?

I don't think they should bother with the pro bowl at all. But I guess my preferred format would be bringing back the Rock n Jock B Ball Jam with the 50 point shots and mix up some teams with NFL guys and actors and other celebrities.

Does anyone else remember when Franco was closing in on Jim Brown’s record (at the time) for rushing yards? Brown was not taking it graciously and actually talked about coming out of retirement to extend the record. He challenged Franco to some kind of decathlon or something and they showed it during the playoffs I think.

You beat me to this post by 2 minutes. I still remember Nelly intercepting Marino 1-handed.

if you want a real laugh, look up what the nhl is doing.

i actually think they are breaking out a Dunk tank this year, not even kidding..
The NHL All Star Game is the best one, the 3 on 3 tournament between the 4 divisions is a great format. High scoring, kind of like real hockey and nobody will get hurt. It's the only All-Star game I've watched in recent years.

i loved some of those late 80s and early 90s NBA all star games. but i liked the NBA back then.

Why does he get called before KP? Or Mac Jones? Granted none of them belong in the game but why Huntley?
because most qbs opted out and they are already like 3 or 4 deep into the alternatives. Didnt Derrick Carr just get invited? Dude wasnt even a starter for the raiders in the last few games, he was the backup and he's technically a pro bowl QB now..

it's not the honor it once was.

I think the Pro Bowl, like similar events in the other pro sports, has run its course. I loved all of them as a young kid in the 1970s but that was a different time, different levels of innocence, less cynicism etc. This includes for the players, I think they thought of it as an honor and actually did get kind of competitive in these things. They also didn’t get paid as well in regular seasons, so the added money and free trip resonated more with them. I don’t blame fans or players today for not giving a dam about it, it’s just how it is.

Me too, but I was actually an NBA fan back then, from the 70s to the end of the Jordan Era I was a Bulls fan, I can name the Bulls 70s starting lineup still, I think I just liked the logo, then the Jordan era came along and for about a dozen years I was really into NBA, but they played different then, more like college and less just shooting 3s and no defense or travelling like now, and the All Star games weren't like LeBron vs. Durant pick-up games, it was East vs. West, and the good players wanted to win for their conference believe it or not, bragging rights, like Bird, Jordan, Detroit Bad Boyz, vs. Olajuwon, Drexler, Show Time Lakers etc. they played pretty seriously.

If you're Tyler Huntley, do you go to this? Wouldn't it be kind of embarrassing?

I mean he's most famous for a blown qb sneak 2 yards out although it's more on the play caller than him.

Hell yeah! Who cares about "deserving it", LOL :)
I hope he had a clause in his contract that pays him a bonus for making the Pro Bowl too! Wouldn't you love to get a payday this way? Just like in Goodfellas, "F-U PAY ME!" :)

The world needs the 2023 version of Bill Bellamy shooting a turnaround jump shot for 25 points over Michael Rappaport
or 5'0 Jonathan Taylor Thomas trying to back down NBA All-Time Defender Kevin Garnett.

Queen Latifa picking Shawn Kemps' pocket for a breakaway layup, even though as an adult I'm 99.9% certain it was staged.

The Rock n Jock games were some of my childhood's most anticipated events.

This will be the first I watch in 20 years or so since I feel they MIGHT actually compete. Its too big of an ask to get them to tackle and hit each other. Too much money on the line.

An idea I had for the Pro Bowl is an NFL All-Star team (most would turn this down so would be mostly younger players) vs a College All-Star team. The college guys would be playing for draft position. The visuals of a Pitt helmet tackling a Steeler helmet, something like that, would be awesome
