Wow - what a great movie. I was unsure during the opening credits if the brightness of the graphics was too much, but it wasn't. Very fresh, new type of animation and the story was fantastic. I highly, highly recommend this movie. Not sure how this will play to very small children, but I think over the age of 7 or so will greatly enjoy it along with all adults. Fantastic soundtrack. Grade: A+

Aquaman is a mixed bag. I definitely enjoyed it more than the men in my family (probably because of Jason Mamoa ;)), but it definitely dragged a bit in parts. I did like the main characters self-deprecation. It's almost like he was an anti-hero to a degree. The casting of Mamoa was perfect along the lines of Chris Hemsworth in Thor. Grade: B-B+

Hoping to catch Bumblebee this weekend. (Not very inclined to see Mary Poppins.)

Bumblebee is a winner. Wife enjoyed it along with kids. Transformers with the Spielberg touch.

I thought Spider verse was great.... but I can’t call it the best ... right now it’s tied with Spider-Man 2 ( Doc Oc) and Homecoming... really liked it a lot.

Haven’t seen Aquaman yet but I will soon

Sorry to hijack your thread. my plan was to wait until I can rent Aquaman at home. I tended to like Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman more than most. But justice league wasn’t very good in my opinion and I’m not sure I can get into a movie that’s largely set underwater.

Speaking of these comic book movies, I remember threads on this board about Black Panther and about Infinity War. I thought they were both just ok and I guess I just didn’t know enough about things then.

I’ve always been a casual watcher of these films as I’ve never been a super hero guy, so maybe I just was not as invested as others. That said, Ive gone back recently and watched a lot of the earlier Marvel movies, and I’ve really enjoyed them. The movie making is fantastic. The writing, humor and wit are all really good too. What I particularly like is seeing how all the characters are connected, who they are most aligned with and how the studio has interlinked all the movies together in a gradual way over a ten year period. They had the foresight to lock up the actors for multiple films and have had minor roles like Jeremy Renner in an uncredited cameo in Thor progress though the films and poised to player a major role in Avengers Endgame.

Ive become a fan of the marvel universe and will be sad to see this phase of things end. These characters and actors can’t kick ass forever. Guys like Downey and Hemsworth are incredible in their roles.

I still can’t bring myself to watch Dr Strange and Antman/ant man and the wasp. I guess I need to before Endgame?

Yes! Both have pivotal roles albeit one is upcoming. And both had very strong stand alone movies. Trust me - you will enjoy them.

Marvel, through some inspired choices in casting and direction (and some good luck), has rolled out many great films. It became more apparent with some of the DC entries that weren't so good.

Not sure where they turn in the Marvel universe with many of the actors aging out. But kudos to them that they have this dilemma - will we will ever have this prolonged period of excellent entries in succession?

Antman is more fun in the Thor ragnorok way- because Paul Rudd is just naturally funny.

Dr Strange was boring. But it did inform his parts in infinity war- which was absolutely terrific.

Black panther was great because it had the most fully formed antagonist. And shuri stole the show.

But opinions are individual.

I want to take my 6 year old to see it- but may wait for on demand.

Not to sound like a snob here, but DC has failed miserably with their films. And I partially blame Christopher nolan. He set the batman bar so incredibly high with his trilogy that DC made the mistake of trying to make all of its films dark and dreary. They have made horrible decisions with writers and directors zack snyder being a lousy choice in my opinion. Batman vs superman for comic book geeks is one of the greatest stories ever told. When the cartoon from the 90s is a better movie than the film from a few years back, you have a problem. I just think snyder is all wrong for DC. Marvel on the other hand has embraced fun in making their movies. They cast excellent actors for the roles, never took their movies too seriously, and have told excellent stories through dozens of films. I thought infinity wars rivaled the dark knight in my rankings of comic book movies. Giving adequate screen time to Brolin as thanos makes for better character development and a better movie.

Another example—Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman were introduced and had minor throw away roles in Ultron. I only noticed it recently when watching the movie. As we know they were a major part of Black Panther.

I have a crush on Shuri. She’s a bit too young for me though.

Holmes and Watson was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time.

loved it...yes, I know, I am the only one..

I haven’t seen it yet, but I too have felt these types of movies were the worst when I first saw them. But typically a 2nd or 3rd viewing uncovers the comic genius of those two guys.

funny, I looked up the reviews of "A Christmas Story" in the early 80's and it got hammered...I rarely take the advice of the movie critics as they as everyone else are silo'd up with preconceived opinions on things outside the quality of the movies. .
