OT - Tomlin to the Skins?

A first-round pick has to be the compensation for it to even enter the discussion phase. Washington would want that pick to be in 2021, so a one in 2021 and a 3rd and a 5th in 2020.

wait, so for them to take tomlin off our hands, we have to give them our '21 first rd pick and two later picks in '20?? I still do it, it'd be worth it..

No:
Pittsburgh receives Washington's 3rd- and 5th-round picks in 2020.
Pittsburgh receives Washington's 1st-round pick in 2021 (Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes)

Washington receives Mike Tomlin.

i know, i was making a joke. if they offered a first rd pick for tomlin, i would help him pack and drive him not to the airport but straight to DC myself. and i'd even promise to stop at sheetz in breezewood if he wanted too.

I thought Washington wanted Dabo so he can be this decades Lou Holtz, Dennis Erickson, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, Nick Saban and so on.

Not sure about that, but I think Tomlin would make a fantastic college coach. Someone would throw him $10M/year to recruit and motivate. The only downside for him would be that he would have to skip most of Hell Raisin' Season, as it falls in December.

That’s classic. Maybe the Ditka every pick in the draft would be worth it too.

I have generally been a Tomlin supporter but I would drive with you and take over driving half way to give you a break.

Im no fan of Tomlin but I wouldn’t want to see his career as a HC come to an end by having to go to Washington. He’d never recover.

This would be fantastic. I think at least a first and second would be enough, but I'd settle for a first. Lincoln Riley gets a blank check to coach this team.

At the end of the day, I see Tomlin retiring in 2021 when his contract is up and the Steelers hiring a young, bright coach like they have the last 50 years. I like Kris Richard, DBs coach/play-caller for Dallas and the architect of the Legion of Boom. DAL currently has the 6th best defense in the league. Very similar mold to Tomlin (which I’m sure many here will love to hear ;) ) and will be a successful coach one day.

Kevin Stefanski and Kevin O’Connell could be good, too, and could be a good fit with Rudolph as both are pretty good offensive-minds. However, they’re still unknown to this point and O’Connell may be held back due to the Redskins’ deficiencies.

I think both Tomlin and the Steelers would be wise to seriously consider this. Tomlin's a very good coach and would lend credibility to Washington from day 1. However, there are serious doubts he is going to beat the Pats - or at this point even win a playoff game. If Tomlin stays here he has a 3 year shelf life at most, and will either get fired or retire, as I doubt he wants to go thru the post Ben rebuild.
If he goes to Washington, he can probably get twice the money and control, and time and half of the expectations.
