Owt

Does this mean he's playing like a superstar again? I know he had a tough matchup against that shutdown defenseman Matt Niskanen last series.

I am really pretty happy right now. This has been a fun ride. Ecstatic. Been traveling all week....but thanks to technology was able to watch Game 3 in the middle of nowhere. Right now, I am in heaven. I just have to remind myself literally to breathe during these games especially during stoppages in play.

Sid has become somewhat a streaky player, where his confidence his important. He has to have a lot right now and that is a real good thing. Now we get the other big boy scoring a goal or 2, look out.

This has been a great run.. Every game is exciting.. I was down on hockey in general the last handful of years. It has been painful to watch.. Not sure if its the style, the speed or if they are just letting them play more but every game is literally non stop action..

Regarding Sid, im usually one to call him out for not scoring but he has been effective, making plays all over ice.. Im not one to even mention a star player backchecking so I won't go there about his defense, but he's been making some things happen offensively even if he's not putting it in net..

In a way, I feel vindicated. I've said all along that good, exciting hockey play eliminates the need for gratuitous fighting for true hockey fans, and the Pens are proving it.

The speed that the Pens have been playing has been remarkable. Tampa Bay has a solid defense, but just like in most other sports, the Penguins' speed has been the difference-maker.

it's been more Olympic style hockey, which is a great thing.
We are seeing skill and speed being benefitted unlike in past, when they almost seemed to want to increase mediocrity by allowing the clutching/grabbing.. You let that crap go on, you reward mediocrity and have a poor product.. It's that Canadian meat-head mentality that they need to get rid of. that purist garbage that has kept hockey in the niche sport category for decades..

No....I wouldn't say. The only really "good" thing about "Olympic Style Hockey" is that most of the top teams are essentially NHL All Star teams so they are highly skilled. But aside from maybe a USA/Canada Gold Medal game, they are quite blah. The "big ice" allows teams to even pushes more out on the periphery and less quality scoring chances. Games are rarely more than 3-2 unless they are one of the powers against a lesser light where then they are blow outs.

I'll take the Stanley Cup Playoff hockey over Olympic Hockey every day.

Though the best ever hockey for yinz youngsters was the 1987 Canada Cup. Where the Russians and Czechs were still not yet NHL players. So it was not the Miracle On Ice type of stuff, but it was Mario/Wayne and company against Fetisov/Larionov and company......3 games. All 3 games I think ended 6-5. Unbelievable. Never better.
