It is August 1st and he isn't eligible. I'd say all indications appear to be negative regarding his academic situation and ability to receive the NCAA's approval to join the team. Hopefully something changes and he is deemed eligible. We're supposed to hear something by 8/2 if one of the posters on this board is correct. All indications appear to be positive regarding his academic situation and ability to receive the NCAA's approval to join the team.

It definitely is not a clearinghouse issue when it is confirmed he was still attempting to do work to become eligible. That is a Paris Ford issue, not a clearinghouse issue. We have some insiders and Chris Dokiah said he will in all likelihood be eligible. Pat Narduzzi also pubkically stated he expects Ford to be on the roster. He will be available soon according to sources. It's a NCAA clearinghouse issue and it's a F up on their end. Guaranteed that Narduzzi is blowing up on them complaining. We need Ford starting from day one

A clearinghouse issue would be if he had what he needed on the sliding scale, but a class was questioned. That would have been resolved already by the clearinghouse with a determination made. Him working all summer to either improve a grade or test score or entirely take a class for credit wouldn't be a clearinghouse issue, but would just be a matter of what the score/grade ended up being and where he was on the sliding scale. The clearinghouse would have no real involvement at that point, save confirming the results. As Ford was still studying for something just a couple weeks ago, it clearly is something which is on him to make up against his graduation or sliding scale and not something he is waiting on the clearinghouse to determine.Wait a minute...what does this mean? The story is he transferred a few times between different schools which impacted his total credits. An NCAA Clearinghouse issue is not having enough high school credits to be admitted into college. How is this a Paris Ford issue?

No, it is clear by that statement and information posted by Ford & Co. it is him having to get eligible and not an outstanding review of his credits. It is a Ford issue, not an NCAA Clearinghouse issue. He isn't currently eligible and it is on him to meet the minimum requirements, which he couldn't do in May/June.So is this article with statements taken from Narduzzi today at the first day of camp not accurate? http://www.pennlive.com/pittsburgh-panthers/2017/08/paris_ford_pitt_eligibility.html
Currently, Ford is "waiting to qualify for first-year eligibility with the NCAA". This makes it sound like there is a clearinghouse issue. From some of the other reports, it sounds like a class was questioned due to his multiple transfers while in high school.

In fact, this is a direct quote from HCPN, which makes it clear it is he who has work to do, not the clearinghouse:
"His family is taking care of him and giving him another opportunity to finish it out academically,” Narduzzi said. “We’ll wait and see. He’s got a plan. He’s got to work the plan and hopefully he gets it done."
I think you are confusing when the clearinghouse would be involved. They can determine courses aren't approved and he could have to makeup those courses, but once they do that, it is still up to him to meet the minimums along the sliding scale by way of taking the proper courses. As of a couple weeks ago, he was still studying for coursework, so it is obviously a situation of him needing grades/courses to meet the eligibility standards, not waiting on the clearinghouse to approve courses already completed.
These are entirely different scenarios. If it was a clearinghouse issue, at this late point, it would be even more troubling. Right now, it should only be about him getting the grades needed. If he can't do that, with everything on the line and all the help possible, it is unlikely he will ever make it.
That's the 30 for 30 episode ESPN really needs to make. The mysterious, awesome, nebulous, all powerful NCAA clearinghouse. The clearinghouse still has to sign off before he can play, right?
They have to confirm, but the issue isn't waiting on the clearinghouse. The issue has been him getting grades to them, so he can be cleared. The holdup isn't a clearinghouse review of a transcript. The most the clearinghouse could have been involved to this point was making it clear months ago there were courses they did not approve. The clearinghouse still has to sign off before he can play, right?

There is no evidence that is the holdup and not the fact he couldn't get the appropriate grades/scores on the sliding scale, but that is the only way the clearinghouse could have been involved previously and left him still ineligible. At this point, there is no "clearinghouse issue" that could be possible, unless the new course(s) he took were not pre-approved, but as of a couple weeks ago, it was clear Ford was still taking course(s) to even submit to the clearinghouse for eligibility clearance.
There is no mystery. They have a website that you go to and look up your school. It then gives you a list of courses that are approved. The rest is simple math. When an athlete is ineligible or has a "clearing house issue" 99.9% the time it the kid's fault. They process over 100,000+ kids a year with no problems. That's the 30 for 30 episode ESPN really needs to make. The mysterious, awesome, nebulous, all powerful NCAA clearinghouse.
I picture some combo of Men In Black and the IRS and the Matrix.
In reality more likely an office of corrupt incompetent self important prigs taking payola from the big schools to fabricate 0.00 grade reports and push through the retards those schools always miraculously find a way to make eligible in time, and hoarding over the crappy programs like us, dragging out their precious decision to the last nanosecond.
Yeah, if true, this confirms it was 100% on Paris Ford. If he isn't eligible this year, I won't hold my breath it will ever happen. Of course, if he does prep, that would mean he only needs 1 course improved with the possibility of also improving his SAT/ACT.UPDATE (3:09 PM)-
**Received some news regarding Paris Ford. A VERY good source tells PSN that Ford is expected to wrap up his academic work to be eligible this season on August 9th. That will then be submitted to the NCAA for approval. If that happens, he’ll enroll at Pitt. If not, he’ll attend Milford Prep and then join Pitt next spring.
It shouldn't take any time at all. He should already know exactly what his sliding scale requirements are and what courses are cleared.Word is that he will have completed all his course work by August 9th, and then has to wait for the ncaa clearinghouse which could take some time.
But why would it take the Clearinghouse approval so long, if the criteria is so cut and dry as their supporters above claim? Seems like a 30 second process. All they boxes checked? Yes? Approved!Word is that he will have completed all his course work by August 9th, and then has to wait for the ncaa clearinghouse which could take some time.
Who are "their supporters above"? It is clear as day this isn't a clearinghouse issue. This is a Paris Ford isn't eligible issue because he either didn't graduate or his grades or sliding score SAT/ACT were too low and he has to improve it.But why would it take the Clearinghouse approval so long, if the criteria is so cut and dry as their supporters above claim? Who is a PSU fan in here?
Indeed.Likely referring the the PITTGUYYESSIR poster.
I don't doubt the veracity of 21Boys though. I'm sure it IS as simple as described. Which is even more evidence to suspect my accusations of above. It should take about a minute to approve a kid.
Because the clearinghouse has to process 400,000+ applications a year. It requires them to receive official transcripts from the schools. Then it has to process it just like everyone else. He doesn't get front of the line privileges because he is a 4 star athlete. He not allowed to practice until it clears. So yes they may know everything is good but it still has to go through the paperwork. But why would it take the Clearinghouse approval so long, if the criteria is so cut and dry as their supporters above claim? The paperwork doesn't take any time, unless he is trying to get credit for a course which is not pre-approved.Because the clearinghouse has to process 400,000+ applications a year. How did his high school send his final transcript? Was it submitted electronically? Was it overnighted to the clearinghouse? Was mailed? This all effects how long it takes to process it.The paperwork doesn't take any time, unless he is trying to get credit for a course which is not pre-approved.
Well, no, that would be a submission/receipt issue, not a processing issue. However, I would be beyond shocked if they were doing anything but electronic submission. The Clearinghouse has a direct (and free) portal for submission. Also, he won't have one "final transcript". He will have multiple transcripts (already would be submitted, save the last course/school he is making up) because you can't just have an override transcript with courses from other programs/districts.How did his high school send his final transcript? If he was done days ago, as they first reported, why are they not even sending his transcript (it is an electronic and instant process) until tomorrow? I don't think they have any real information.http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/08/10/pitt-football-camp-notebook-8102017/
Hopefully he will be on the field next week!
Sheesh. Love how "8/2" became the nebulous "sometime next week". Checks in the mail, right? Well, not from Pitt it isn't. And that's likely the problem!http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/08/10/pitt-football-camp-notebook-8102017/

The problem isn't that there isn't a "check in the mail" but that PSN doesn't have decent info.Sheesh. Love how "8/2" became the nebulous "sometime next week". Checks in the mail, right? Well, not from Pitt it isn't. And that's likely the problem!
Doesn't much matter. Already pretty late to count on anything from the guy. Or like Hamlin we'll find out he has some double secret chronic situation (not to be confused with a situation with the chronic, which is Whiteheads issue) he's had for years and apparently is incurable but never afflicted him in high school, somehow...
Forgive the bitterness.
