Pat Signal

Anyone have an idea of how many QBs we will take in this class? Judging from the offer sheet, Patti isn't our plan A - but I can see taking him and trying to develop him based off of his film. Any other QBs Narduzzi is chasing after?

I'd rather have Doyle. This is dissapointing.
Why? If you take the Rivals star system out of the equation Doyle & Patti are pretty simliar. Both can spin it. Both will play for traditional powers this year against a difficult schedule & competition. The only difference is Patti won a state title last year against some rough customers & wasn't beat out by a Sophomore mid season thus forcing a transfer like Doyle was. H2P!

Doyle looks really good in shorts and 7 on 7 workouts, but was benched last year in HS for poor play. He also has a meddling father.

Yeah, safe to say his ship has sailed. It might have come down to what you said. One is winning titles against good competition while the other looks good in shorts. I'll take the winner 9 times out of 10.

They'll only take Patti. And Patti was right there with Doyle on the staff's list.

Kenny Pickett was a two star QB from New Jersey this time last year. From all accounts, he was the best QB at the spring game this year.

It's all about upside. There are lots of QB's in the pros that were not highly recruited or rated: Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Carr, Prescott, Romo, Dalton etc...

Let's see if he can develop...He's got all the tools...

I think Watson preferred Patti and if not preferred thought Doyle and Patti were at least very very close. Seems like as soon as Watson got here the way we recruited Doyle slowed and we started looking at other and.
I like the pickup. Always negative on here

Agreed

I love QB's ever since the forward pass was legalized!

Welcome to PITT!

But its a player with two first names one really male and one really female.

Mrs Buffett is named Patti and you never know what's rolling around in the Patti head day to day but its always exciting!

So this could be a good one!

Go PITT!

Patti was offered 2 weeks ago. When did Doyle get a Pitt offer? Who was the first QB Watson offered? By the end of the day this board will have this Patti kid running a 4.4 40.

Or more likely-much more likely-Doyle didn't give his commitment on junior day despite some pressure to do so and the coaches moved ahead and took the guy who was ready to commit.

QB1 has offers from:
Cincinnatti, Boston College, Temple, Rutgers, Marshall, Colorado St, Buffalo, Toledo, Yale, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolin, New Hampshire, Albany, Georgia St, Columbia and Dartmouth.

QB2 has offers from:
Michigan St, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Iowa, Syracuse, Indiana, Kentucky, Toledo, Temple, Purdue, Boston College, Western Michigan, Buffalo, Umass, Old Dominion.

I'm supposed to look at both offer sheets and think that QB1 is better now and has more potential than QB2? I guess good schools have shitty eye's for talent when it comes to the QB position. He may be a good QB over time, but not a good image for their recruiting when they settle for a "plan c" kid in May.

And nobody loves recruiting more than me and I lean towards the positive with Pitt more times than not, so save the always negative comments for some other posters.

That's the point I don't think they settled. They view them as similar.

Macvittie didn't have any big time offers till a month or so before signing day,I don't really care who offers who,35% of players drafted this past draft were 4* or higher

Is MacVittie still a good examole to use? Passed by no offers DiNucci and possibly Pickett.

I really think it's not a barren wasteland like Tino/Anderson/whatever other gibrones they had then. I think they actually have a quartet of guys who all bring something to the table. And hopefully this new guy will be another when (if) he arrives.

The "pat signal" thing has to go. It's Pat from SNL - I can't get past it. There has to be a better phraseology to announce a Pitt recruit - something that is not so transgender.
