Pat Signal

realistically, he (or any QB that we sign in this class) wont even be relevant til earliest, sept 2020.. And that is pretty much best case for him. I mean, we wont see this guy or even have him in a conversation for QB reps in a game until 39 months from now.

Macvittie didn't have any big time offers till a month or so before signing day,I don't really care who offers who,35% of players drafted this past draft were 4* or higher
This post is very, very confusing. Which argument are you making?

MacVittie didn't have great offers, so that justifies other people not having great offers and thus Pitt fans should be happy? However, MacVittie apparently looks like our 4th best QB, so that might not be the best reasoning.

35% (a very, very high percentage) of players drafted were 4* or higher, so we shouldn't be happy with Patti?

Huh? MacVittie is also going to be, at best, our 3rd string QB after 2 full years in the program, and we keep bringing in grad transfers because the coaches don't feel that the QBs we have are ready to start.

So what point are you trying to make by referencing MacVittie? Probably not the best example of a recruiting "sleeper" at this point.

The "pat signal" thing has to go. It's Pat from SNL - I can't get past it. There has to be a better phraseology to announce a Pitt recruit - something that is not so transgender.

Well when you start a topic you're free to do as you wish. I'm sure you're a trendsetter so I look forward to getting in line.

Or is the staff always on top of finding ways to improve and add depth?
Did you read the post I was responding to? Some context might be useful.

But since you engaged:
  • The coaches don't go after one year grad transfer QBs to add "depth" -they do it because they aren't confident that any of the existing QBs on their roster are ready to start;
  • the grad transfer QB is not coming to Pitt to be "depth"
  • the comments by the coaches during spring ball revealed the following:
1. Browne is the starter;
2. DiNucci isn't ready to be a starter, but at this point is ahead of Pickett and TMAC;
3. Att his point, Pickett appears to be ahead of MacVittie;

Didn't say he was the "depth". But having him gives them more than one guy who is "close" to be ready and another who isn't.

I hardly see this as solely a negative towards the guys in the program. I think the opportunity presented itself and they went and got a guy who can help them keep winning now rather than wading in and absorbing a learning curve. That's kind of the point.

Good Posts, but it is only Coach Pat & Staff 3rd Year, and Chryst had the same Problems bringing in Savage, and Graham and Wannstedt did not do much better either, except for Flacco that left due to Palko and both brought in by Harris.

QB is one tough Position to recruit in just 1 to 2 years? Very seldom find a Goldmine Gem the First Year and takes Years of Coaching Experience like Petrino at ULou or a Top Recruiting program like USC, BAMA, FSU, and quite lucky at it as well.

Most of time, developing a QB Recruit is like how Diamonds are formed. They come from Coal with 1,000 years of Pressure and then are still Diamonds in the rough until grind down and polished with much time in the Film Room.

Wisky has brought in a few Transfers too! Holgrosen has been doing it too!

Pitt Program just added Recruiting Staffers Vacancies this year, two from Florida??? Coach Pat is still in Rebuilding the Pitt Football Program Mode neglected by Pederson Poison. Coach Pat & Staff are going on his Second AD and OC as well? I think it fair to give it some more time than just 2 years?

Now with New Commitment Signings in December, Recruits will sign sooner and cut out the indecision and that means Coach Pat will at least know sooner, who will commit and who won't. At the same time, once QBs do commit early, others Top QBs Recruits will be avoiding those Schools looking for an opportunity to play sooner and can become an advantage. If you want to be a Top QB Pitt Commit do it sooner or Coach PN is moving on and the days of visiting to get some free trips will be less.If not, some Diamonds in the Rough will more later in February!

OSU, UM, ND, & PSU all have Established Recruiting Resources Programs inviting 3,000 Recruits to Campus every year from 8th to 12th Grades and have been doing it for Decades! Pitt just got an OC that will stay longer at Pitt and added an New AD and finally filled Recruiting Staffers like I said above!

Can we give it at least 3 to 4 years?
